Watched it today.

It’s really rubbish now isn’t it ?

Merson’s ok and I’ve nothing against Simon Thomas but some of the other pundits they have watching the matches and some of the in vision reporters they have at the grounds really are quite dreadful.

Thankfully Mike Riley wasn’t on today sticking up for the usual abysmal refereeing and VAR decisions.

Think I need to start going to every Boro game so I don’t have to watch it.
 
Out of all the lady pundits, I think Sue Smith is streets ahead of all of them.
I thought she was very fair today commenting on our game.
 
Use to be part of my football ritual when Boro were away watching soccer Saturday down the pub with my mates. Go to the bookies before have all our slips and watch the scores come in! Wasn't the same when we started using our phones for bets.

And with everyone pretty much having a dodgy box now they can watch there teams play rather than watching the scores come in. And use apps on there phone to see the scores.

Yes she’s ok. I didn’t actually mean her. Just as one example there was a witless guy at Preston today who kept blabbering on about it being the managers 50th home game in charge and reeled off his WDL ratio at one point - I mean who cares??? Just tell us about the game.

Lost its soul in last few few years, so I no longer watch it.

If ITV or some channel decided to give Stelling, Thompson, Le Tissier, Nicholas and Merson a Saturday TV show where they talk about football and then the scores come in. Nobody would watch Soccer Saturday. Well played Sky.
 
What happened to that lad they had on last year reporting from the grounds...forget his name so apologies for the description....young black lad...I thought he was great but not seen him since

It’s not just the panel in the studio though, they’ve lost some reporters at the grounds who were excellent - people like Johnny Phillips, dickie Davies, Bianca Westwood and of course kammy and the replacements are just wooden.

It just struck me yesterday just how poor it is now.
 
It's not a patch on what it used to be. Then again what is on TV? Everything has 'gone in a new direction' and not better for it.

The thing about soccer Saturday is that it was never about getting the scores. The majority have phones for that. It was about the banter and crack between mates. A natural chemistry that can't be replicated (also see Top Gear).

That said I don't go down the 'woke' or 'tick box' route. Just like in the male world plenty of decent female pundits. Also plenty of woeful ones. I happen to think Sue Smith is decent. Also Michelle Owen / Katie Shanahan.

Although I did tune in to a recent FA cup match on ITV. I think 30 seconds of Laura Woods and Karen Carnie giggling away about how 'handsome' Ian Wright is. It was like loose women 🤮

I'm a black man and even I would say its gone down the tick box route. Plenty of decent pundits out there, seems like they've just picked them out of a hat. It's terrible.

But how annoyingly biased is Jamie Ohara surprised he doesn’t turn up in a spurs shirt.
 
Didn’t even have a reporter at Reading yesterday, despite it being common knowledge it was all going to kick off. I suppose because of all the dodgy streams and real time goal alerts it’s probably fulfilled its usefulness.
