So who went to the pub?

Was the age range the same as usual?

My mates popped into our local yesterday afternoon and enjoyed it. No table service though, which is disappointing, I was hoping it would be one decent outcome from this awful period.

I'd say 80% usual. We do have a couple of older regulars who didn't come today I'm told but the last table I sent out had a family of 6 on with 2 of them been I'm guessing the grandad and grandma, both looked in the 70-80 age range.

We had a table booked for The Red Lion in Norton (3-6) as it was my stepsons 30th birthday....but as we walked past The laddie it was quiet so sacked the Red off (prices are ridiculous now) and walked straight in to the Laddie (this was 2.50)....hand sanitiser at and a manager at door...no queueing....could go to bar if you had too but we used the app to order drinks.....we were I there til 5.45 and not once was it full to capacity....plus it was a really nice chilled out atmosphere...didnt feel weird at all. I honestly thought that in there would be the trouble spot....but (listening to other stories about Alitheos....The Reindeer....The Swan) sounds like it was one of the safest places to be.

This sort of thing irks me, business up against it after 100 days of no income, trying to be smart by booking tables and then people dont turn up

Hope they didn’t have to turn business away because of you

No they didnt.....the stepson was told at the time he booked that if we didnt turn up bang on 3pm our table would go to someone else (they had walk in's in the main bar...it was lounge that was only bookings) and we knew he was running late as they were having a meal in Yarm.

I do. We were booked out all day. Just finished cleaning down as opening hours have been reduced for the first couple of weeks. Eased back into the swing of things. Not a fan of wearing a mask in this heat so off to the shops tomorrow to buy one of those face shields instead. Different people deal with mask wearing on different ways. No chance I can wear a cloth mask in this humidity for hours at a time, it's really noticeable to me.

All in all a good day. Customers were happy and all respected the guidelines we have in place.
Sounds like it all went down well, which is really good to hear. The majority of people are great and will respect the guidelines people put in place. In school we are a little OTT, but we need to be.

I had a kid in school a couple of weeks back who came out of the toilets after washing his hands and proceeded to dry them on the back of his pants. He couldn't understand why I wanted him to go back in the toilets and wash them again. I sat him down, explained my reason and he was happy to use the hand driers instead of his pants.

I'm back in school tomorrow and looking forward to it. Although I try and keep active, I have put on weight and my knees are sore from being idle.

I may be being thick, but if his hands were washed and clean what was the problem?

He's transferring germs from the back of his pants to his hands.

Surely you can see that wiping your hands on your backside isn't the most cleanliness of things to do.

I should also explain, they have to wash their hands after break and then put sanitiser on their hands when entering the classroom. If they leave a classroom, they again put sanitiser on and again when they return.

I didn't say it was ideal. But you said he'd washed his hands. I wasn't being funny by the way. 😃

I would imagine the youngsters in one way or another are going to have to live with this occurrence for years to come .
It’s on a much smaller scale like 9/11 where the world changed ( travel etc ) . Us older people just be thankful we had opportunity to live ordinary lives without a shadow like this hanging over us as youngsters .
