So, what has gone wrong at Boro?

Telling the players in your squad that they are the best players in the league, then one by one replace them with your own signings.

Just one of those bad patches.....really really really bad patches.
I’m sure we’ll turn it around and have a bit of excitement before the end of the season but we look a long way from play off place contenders at the minute

It’s the usual second half of the season slump, it’s always the same, other teams sus us out and know how we are going to play.

We don’t have a plan B so we carry on with plan A regardless, the plan being hoof it up the pitch and hope someone gets on the end of it.

I don't honestly think the resources are available. He has to accept that the midfield 3 just aren't good enough. Only Howson is technically good enough in there. . Tav is a huge miss and we haven't got a striker. Mid-table is all we can expect. Disappointing, but the energy required to play the way we did to good effect earlier in the season isn't there any more

Our strength in depth or lack of it, is being exposed, Fry and Tav out is starting to take it’s toll, the centre forward issue not addressed, can only assume Fletcher is not fully fit if he can’t start, the keeper has cost us a few, no fluidity, can’t get a settled first eleven.....

I think we are just a side built on bodged foundations and that they would wobble. We lack quality so our plan all season has to play with intensity, hard work... basically outbattle sides. Its folly to think that would continue to be a successful plan for a 46 game season. Unfortunately for any playoff hunters on fmttm... we just overachieved in the first half of the season, now we are underperforming. I'm sure we will win again (even though it doesn't feel like it) but continue to be inconsistent and level off somewhere in mid-table.

When we have had zero depth for the majority of the season, it was always going to catch up with us, I’d say that’s the main reason.
Key positions very lacking, as a minimum you need a solid keeper and a goal scorer to do anything, we have neither. Again that catches up with you eventually especially when a few key players start to get injuries

We need to stop pretending that Saville and Morsy are two thirds of a decent midfield. That Betinelli is a first choice keeper or that Assombalonga will become a goal-scoring machine. None of that is likely to happen.
With half an hour left today McNair was finally freed from CB into midfield and that should be the case from now on if we can keep Hall and Fry fit. The sooner we can get Bolasie and Tav into that side the better.

For me it has to be the quality of our midfield, lacking in creatively and speed, we simply don't make enough chances. No striker could be confident that he could score 20 plus goals in our team . I really think we miss Grant Hall as well.

We have 2 centre halves that are not really centre halves - a centre forward that has struggled for most of time he has been with us.

There was a great chance to play Johnson today with Bolasie out.

We miss Tav and lack creativity without him. It doesn't help that our defense has fallen to pieces at the exact same time.

Maybe switching to a back 5 might help us stop conceding. No idea what we do at the other end of the pitch though.

1. We really miss Fry
McNair is not a dominant leading centre half. Without such a partner he has looked poor. Dijksteel simply can't play centre back. They were all over the place again in the first half.

2. We really miss Tavernier. Without his drive and energy and bit of invention, our midfield 3 look absolutely pedestrian. I can not believe Warnock can't see this. Saville simply has to be dropped and kept out of the side.

3. Our goalkeeper might as well have no hands. It would be comedy gold if he didn't play for us.

4. Assombolonga is absolutely useless and offers nothing remotely positive. He will be an issue as long as he pulls a shirt on for us. Again, I can't believe he is still here or that he is getting picked.

At least surely now this will stop people talking about needing to start runs and the possibility of the play offs. We are not remotely good enough.

This isn't a rant, it is just blindingly obvious.
And very very disappointing.

A back 5 might be more solid, but we’ve just signed 3 wingers, he’s got to try and use them.
