I think we could use Howson/Jones as RWB maybe and Siliki as a LWB till replacements are signed (or brought back) McNair and Dijksteel can play RCB in a three, Bola could maybe play LCB? Fry/Hall/Bamba as the central with Peltier as cover. A really good DCM to marshal them all and offer good positional cover is possibly missing but with Wilder's record of improving players he could maybe mold Crooks into that. Payero and/or Tav as the link man between midfield and attackers (think Browne could flourish in that role too), Sporar and Coburn as first choice front two with Uche and Watmore as back up.Yeah, I agree. We don't currently have the players to play the system he used at SU. You could shoehorn players into it, but then it's square pegs in round roles.
That system at SU was innovative, so who's to say he won't come up with something else? Aside from the defensive injuries one of his challenges is finding a way of fitting the abundance of attacking players into a system that suits them, but doesn't leave us too open. I think Warnock struggled to solve this conundrum but he's quite rigid in how he wants his teams to play.
I think just an increase in the organizational play and controlling the midfield would see us picking up more points, and some much needed improvements on set pieces with a few new ideas would be a massive help too.
We might not be too far off how Shef U played with that.
If, and it is a big if, he can turn Siliki and Howson/Jones into effective wingbacks and get a tune out of a few others...........
It also means limited opportunities for the more 'winger' like players in Hernandez and the invisible Ameobi.
I assume/hope a new keeper will be coming in the near future, and probably expect a few players he's worked with in the past join too.
