Sir Tim Martin

Dislike him and would never refer to him as Sir (or anyone else for that matter). Weatherspoons in general are often located in fantastic buildings and have a great selection of drinks. Much better than many other pubs. Can’t fault it for that.

Agree, wherever you go in the country his pubs are always rammed, and they have a good range of drinks at reasonable prices.

I've a friend who's a "chef" there - operates the microwave. He doesn't drink there.....

I wouldn’t want to drink in my place of work either, spend enough time there.

Just in a spoons typing this, a pint is £3.50 and just come from the Newcastle arena where was charged almost £9 a pint ..

His business model is good

sorry I didn’t mean Doom Bar, I meant Crafty McCrafty Oil Small Batch Yorkshire Organic IPA
Another reason for Weatherspoons being good. One of my favourite pubs in Billingham is Kings Arms. Great place and good people. Awful selection of beer. The Half Moon (Spoons) has a far better offering.

Define "awful selection"

I am yet to have a pint of anything I would class as "decent" in a Wetherspoons. Loads of macro rubbish and the guest ales are twiggy CAMRA rubbish.

The last one I was in had about 30 different beers to choose from. About 10 on draft and 20 in bottles. Choice is something you can't criticise them for.

Also, someone mentioned them taking the **** out of small breweries but on the whole it is big breweries taking the **** in the pub/beer industry. As an example, they sell Brewdog beer for about 60% of what Brewdog sell it for themselves in their own bars.

Wetherspoons are giving people the option of buying decent beer at decent prices. Other places are taking the **** and it's not the customer that is winning by paying £6 a pint for the same beer everywhere else.

The Kings has Madri, Moretti and I think San Miguel on draught. All not the best, but perhaps not fair to say awful.

The Half Moon has a much wider variety.

Brewdog are not small and their business practices stink as much as Wetherspoons.
