Some cracking players in the lower leagues, there are definetly some rough diamonds that we could take advantage ofI don’t watch enough of the footy at that level to know. Sadly, I fear that could all change next season ....
We've hit desperate times if we are getting linked with players from KFC.
In recent times I’m not sure we’ve had any successes with signings from the Scottish league - I’m not sure why we bother -(apologies if I’ve missed some blatantly obvious Scottish success story but I cannot think of one)Lyndon dykes and Ross Stewart are linked with us , so looks like we ARE looking at lower leagues , in Scotland if it's correct .
Kevin Nisbet has 57 goals , 10 assists in 78 games for Raith and Dunfermline - almost a goal a game , he would be my choice from Scotland although I do like the look of Stewart . Maybe they could form a partnership .
Lots of very good players in Europe who would improve us .
Wolfsburger's Shon Weissman , Ermedin Demirovic who is owned by Alaves, who was on loan at st Gallen , and Dario Visinger NK Celje being examples .
It depends on who leaves and how much we have to invest

Good call - yep I stand corrected - I guess my view comes from when Strachan bought a load and they were on the whole useless!Barry Robson
He was the only one who was any good to be fair, the rest were truly shocking.
Remember when we were making these big signings which wern't turning out as expected, fans would then say we should buy lower league players, the club can't win
Some gems in there, which we did then a section of fans used this to beat the club with, you end up in the lower league once you start buying from there, I totally disagree
There are gems in the lower leagues, we bought, probably, the best in people eyes, players that were getting the right attention
Buying from lower league is a safer option as more than likely you'll recoup what you paid out on them & more if they show promise
Very good point regarding our scouting system, Brentford too seem to be able to pick up young, progressive talented playersI think it all relies on identifying and scouting then reviewing, then scouting again then signing these players. The three lower league signings at the start of last season have looked, in the main, dreadful. Whether they really are poor or were just thrown into an under performing team who appeared to be poorly coached and setup I don't know. As said there are gems there, we just never seem to sign them.
I would love us to identify the three best scouting departments in the championship and throw money at installing them in our club. The fact we have Gary Gill as our main man after what has been three or four years of woeful recruitment that has brought us to our knees financially seems almost beyond belief.
I want to buy in to the clubs new direction and ethos, but it relies on picking up cheaper players with good potential and developing them through quality coaching. Then molding them into a cohesive playing unit with a clearly defined style of play and attitude. It is undoubtedly the correct way to go IMHO, I'm just not convinced Gill & Woodgate are the ideal starting point for such an endeavor.
