Sick and tired of being alive

Another thing that helps me a lot are audiobooks, I don't mean self help ones as I've had my fill of them. Fiction, take syou to a different place. Headphones on and just let your mind go with the story. I'm a sci-fi guy and just listening to Armada by Ernest Kline (again) but walking to the shops and in the chaos in Tesco just now, I'm in that world. Asda screwed up several delivery items so had to go in. Anyway, they have helped and do helped me so much mate. Loads of free ones out there.
Perfect timing. I'm on the hunt for a new audiobook, so will take your recommendation.
I hope this thread proves as beneficial for AET. I do worry when he posts he's down. Then I do a little dance of happiness when his sun breaks through.
And now he can add "I make strangers dance" to Special Skills on his CV.

I must confess to a love of electronic music like Tangerine Dream for the same reason. Headphones on, dark room and staring into space. Just see where your mind takes you, and what images the music invokes in you.

It's so so difficult to understand the torment that people are going through when you don't suffer from this illness. I see daily the issues of MH and, well just life, which can be totally chit.

It is a horrific affliction, made worse because many don't understand it, your messages and your truth helps me understand it a little more, I guess I'll never fully understand it, at least I hope I don't.

Take care mate, and keep posting- you doing so might not help you, but I know doing so; you're helping others, including me.

Mate .. there's lot's of love on here for you ,.
So from the Five ways for mental well-being..
You've got one covered ...
' connect '
It's simple , but not easy ... Spend half hour a day doing each of these ... If after , spend 18 hours in bed .. but do these first

' connect ' ... On here or talking to someone who you know cares , not dating

' move ' ... Walk , cycle, yoga or anything

' Learn ' .. whatever you think you can't, piano , dance , a language .. anything that you're interested in

' give ' .... Help someone, .. cut their grass, use your skills , reach out to be useful, take next doors bin back etc

' notice ' .. the hard one , .. notice the sky , the Boro crowd desires , the trees , ... Fk notice it's not as windy.. the ducks in the pond

I've had similar thoughts, and I make sure I walk to town, and practice some northern soul dancing, including a song I've never heard before ( learn ) , before I go back to bed, which I don't do ( my safe. Yet worsening place )

and if you walk, walk with your head up, not down! (I used to walk looking at the floor over the last couple of years, not anymore!!) Try it, you will feel a difference, makes "notice" so much easier.

I just wanted to say I’ve read all your comments above and appreciate them.

It’s an horrific affliction and it only takes something daft to set me off into a spiral.
Appreciate where you are coming from. Probably not just "a" thing but lots of little things building up......creating one big thing. Happened to me a couple of months back, so I get you. In time you will look back and just shrug, but not now.

Love to say try not to let things get to you, but if I did I'd be a massive hypocrite. But, as stated, this will pass. Try to focus on good things, f*ck the bad things off. Worry about it next year.

Hope you have a good Xmas, and get in the mindset that 2024 will be a new start👍

Take care AET. I am glad that this thread has been a positive one for you, and that you have been able to take encouragement from the genuine support there is for you here.

Acutely aware I haven’t replied or liked to any of the replies here

This is an awful time of year for some. I have been in a shell since Tuesday

I am contemplating driving up to Boro tomorrow for a distraction. Given I’m 190
Miles away and I haven’t got a ticket and I can’t afford it but so what.

But I’m grateful for all the advice and I hope it helps others.

Excellent!

“What looks large from a distance
Close up ain’t never that big”
It’s a shame it came to that and i have no faith that any one will listen but I get the point. I so want to comment on the big garden birdwatch thread cos it’s not all cuddly and nice

Keep your chin up AET.

Try focus on what you can control and try not to worry about what you can’t. The way people are (and some are *****) is one of the externals that can’t be controlled.

It's definitely not all avian cuddles. Our feeder regularly attracts sparrowhawks, lurking nearby for a snack. Good to see the variety.
Don't worry about what other people think AET, you're always valued here.

You want to see how a charity invests in it back office systems.

Or how it doesn’t.

Still I don’t have to worry about it until Jan 2nd !!
