Shops that don't exist anymore

C & a, the blight of my Saturday morning when we would go into Middlesbrough to see my Nan and family and I’d have to walk round with mam and dad.

Actually, it’s a toss up between c&a and the light section in BHS
Got my first suit as a 16 year old from there.Pale blue massive lapels made of nylon with the "Canada" label, gorgeous 😍

Wimpy still going down here.

Somebody mentioned John Collier.

"John Collier John Collier the window to watch"

Dewhurst butchers. Also remember Tie Rack and Sock Shop from the 90s.

Less chance of a nasty static shock in BHS. I was petrified of touching anything in C&A.

Oh, and C&A is still going strong in Brazil!

Orange cafe Gizborough, made a really good apple pie and custard upstairs, not too mention roast beef and Yorkshire puds. Lasses weren’t too bad either.

Smollins, South Bank - Old Smollin could sell you anything. He was the original Arkwright.

Vauxs Furniture Shop, South Bank

Connie's Sweet Shop, Normanby.

Tom Mayne's Hardware Shop, Normanby

Maude's Newsagents, Normanby

Hills The Bakers, Normanby.

Normanby and South Bank had great bakers. Hills, then Sands, then Morgans. On the occasions I come back north I'll go and buy a white loaf sliced in the shop. If it's possible now. I've not been in a while.

The NEEB shop on corner of Cleveland centre (opposite where McDonalds is now iirc). Not that I miss it particularly I just remember going there as a kid in the 70s of a Saturday morning (I presume to pay bills or sort out issues related to the leccy or buy electrical goods)
