You seriously can’t understand why a homeless person would steal? So if you're homeless it's ok to steal?
I'm sure that's not what you mean so you might want to clarify

It was just two semi-related points really. The second being an example of the main point. The main point is that there is nobody stopping anyone stealing and there are no consequences if you do so people are more openly doing it. The reason that people steal might be different but the response from staff/security/police is the same. I wasn't judging people although I still wouldn't condone stealing.Am saying it was a bit of a surprise to read they were homeless - seemed a bit different to the tone of the rest of the post.
Of course we can.You seriously can’t understand why a homeless person would steal?
Not entirely true. There has been an upsurge in people stealing nappies and baby formula directly linked to the level of poverty in the UK.Of course we can.
Let’s be clear though - the shoplifting in supermarkets and small stores is driven by those who are just talking advantage (as others have said) of a system that allows them to steal and sell to others.
99% true ( there are always outliers)Not entirely true. There has been an upsurge in people stealing nappies and baby formula directly linked to the level of poverty in the UK.
I don't know how much poverty plays a part but I don't doubt it does. What I can say is that it is increasing massively as households are forced into abject poverty. There is report after report on the phenomona.99% true ( there are always outliers)
People are stealing nappies and baby milk to sell - they are expensive.
I run 100 shops and 58 post offices,
My network includes colleagues running around 4000 shops between us.
We are at one on this. Brazen shoplifters are the issue.
Don't be silly that's not what I said at allYou seriously can’t understand why a homeless person would steal?

I am sure as a victim you feel aggrieved. Doesn't change the underlying fact that most crime is a result of poverty.
I sympathise, but can't agree with the underlying cause.I don‘t feel aggrieved at all, nor do I feel a victim.
The thing that saddens me is people thinking it’s ok because we are a business..
The colleagues who run our shops are shti scared at the moment. They are afraid of being stabbed, punched et al.
To say ‘poverty“ is the underlying cause gives those scumbags an excuse they do rot deserve.
There are millions in poverty who don’t resort to thieving.
The was an ex-copper on the radio this morning saying that anyone caught should be issued with a letter banning them from the store. The police only investigate shoplifting over £250, but he said once you were banned then you are trespassing and any theft was then burglary. Still need people to catch them, but I guess AI and facial recognition could provide a solution. He also blamed the majority of baby formula theft on it being used as a cutting agent for class A drugs. Not entirely true. Wear a Newcastle shirt. You'll look normal thenI always get my shoplifting done well before Christmas.
It's getting the 10 lb turkey out under my Boro shirt that's always the problem.......perhaps that's why they only have 4XL left in the Club Shop?
Given the baby formula argument I would ignore the ex copper. The was an ex-copper on the radio this morning saying that anyone caught should be issued with a letter banning them from the store. Coffee is relatively expensive, so even at half-price, it's a good deal for the seller and the buyer.I was in B&M last week in Stockton. A security guard had caught a shoplifter stealing coffee. The guard held him until he gave up the coffee. There were 6 jars stuffed up jacket. The guard then escorted him out of the store. I saw the guard speak into his microphone. The shoplifter then went into Poundland where the staff knew by then who he was and had a good description of him.
I noticed at the time that the coffee in B&M was nearest to the door and so easily stolen. I then thought who wants 6 jars of coffee unless they are absolutely desperate. Whether they need the money for drugs, food, to keep a roof over their head. I'm just glad I'm not in their shoes.
That's the largest kids' sizeI always get my shoplifting done well before Christmas.
