Sex Pistols series ‘Pistol’ drops tomorrow

yep - 'lonely boy'

& Lydon is right in my humble opinion - you cant have a drama about the Pistols that does not have his input and approval .

jonseys book is a decent read, however its a book off the back of a junkie - its got much artistic license - its not the 'sexpistols' its about jones abuse in his family, sexual abuse as a teenager and his own sex addiction in later life - and as Lydon says, its 'seedy' and he had all those legal battles with McClaren to stop exactly this type of mockery - 'flogging a dead horse' - for over 10 years to preserve a true and effective legacy.

im surprised at Glen Matlock - but not at all by Jones & Cook.

From the clip it looks like all these films/series base on musical acts/artists in that it is full of cliches and not much you didn't already know. For other examples see the Queen and Elton John films.

And as JVM states above it is loosely based on information from people who were all off their t!ts at the time.

That said I will still probably give it a look at.

Drops from where? Out of the sky? I suppose it has a banging sound track a well.

I've seen the clips and read the articles and to me it looks horrendous. I'd imagine anyone old enough to have been involved in the "scene" (and I use that word lightly as I can't think of a better one) will also find it equally bad but anyone who wasn't involved because they were too young, not born, etc will find it enjoyable as most of Danny Boyles stuff is.

Slight change of subject, but if anyone has any old vinyl singles of the pistols, have a look at what they're selling for on Discogs.com.

I thought there might be interest in God Save the Queen atm.

My copy selling for an average of 15 quid. Not bad , I thought.

If, however you've got one with the A & M label it's coming up as £4,500 (ave), £12,500 (highest). There's one for sale EU24,000!

having lived through the punk early years of 76/77/78 any movie I have seen to do with the stories around that time are a let down and very unreal .... different perspective for someone born after 77 ... lydons book No blacks is a great read, much better than Jones ... and Englands Dreaming by Jon Savage is a great insight to the early Punk years

I remember buying God Save the Queen whe it was realeased. The only place to buy it was Woolworths in Stockton and even then I had to pluck up the courage to go to the counter.

got my EMI copy of Anarchy in a plain black outer sleeve with the incorrect Dave Goodman production credit on the label day it was released in a record shop in Durham where I was working in the civil service at the time ... november 76
