Season Halfway Point - Nerdy Graph

if you look where we were when Warnock left in comparison to previous seasons. it's no wonder he was let go.

You're a bloody nuisance.

2021/22 - Current
2020/21 - Neil Warnock's First season (10th) 64pts
2014–15 - Aitor Karanka's Play Offs (4th) 85pts
2018-19 - Tony Pulis - Pulisball (7th) 73pts
2017-18 - Gary Monk's League Smashing (5th) 76pts

Wilder 6 games in - 1.8ppg

Current top six with half way stage points tally averaged to the end of the season

Fulham 90 points 1.9ppg
Bournemouth 86 points 1.8ppg
-----------------------------------
Blackburn 84 points 1.8ppg
West Brom 82 points 1.7ppg
QPR 70 points 1.5ppg
Stoke 70 points 1.5ppg

1.4ppg

Half season ppg tally with projected Middlesbrough finish:

2.2ppg 85 point finish 3rd of 4th place finish
2.0ppg 79 points finish
1.9ppg 76 points - Fulham 1st half form

1.8ppg 74 points - Bournemouth 1st half form - projected 5th or 6th place finish
1.7ppg 72 points - Warnock finish projected 6th or 7th place
1.6ppg 69 points
1.5ppg 68 points

With Warnock being in 2012-15 season mode with catastrophic injuries I had us finishing on 72 points (6th or 7th place)

Looking now with a super early finger in the wind projection, I could see us on 74 points which may well be enough for 5th or 6th place.. bearing in mind that we will be in promotion form ready to take on Bournemouth or Blackburn in a play off hum dinger!

Finishing the 2nd half of the season as with the 1st 33points would leave us on a total of 66 points an improvement on last season but nowhere near where we need to be (8th to 10th place finish)

HERE'S TO ONE HELL OF A TRANSFER WINDOW - AUTOMATIC PROMOTION QUALITY SQUAD IN A PLAY OFF POSITION IS THERE FOR THE TAKING

Have a look at where we lost Dijksteel, Hall. Fry & Bola..

We've had a changing of the guard who is hopefully backed to the hilt in January. We've got a lot of fringe players that could do with going out on loan and with their collective loan fees and even including some sales we could MASSIVLEY improve the squad even with one or two additions.

Interesting to see what happens to Spence, Ikpeazu, Wing, Stojanovic & Coburn in the January window.

I’m sorry but you can’t take a chart seriously that doesn’t have a title, unless of course it’s called chart title, in which case I apologise
Only 2 things matter on graphs ....................

1. They must not have a false zero ...................... graphs with a false zero are .... the resort of scoundrels.
2. They must have a scale on each axis ........................ graphs without scales are .... the resort of scoundrels.

we absolutely fell off a cliff at game 24 last season, averaging about point a game beyond that.

Wilder has taken us from looking like a 55 pts team to a 65 pts team, and beaten three top half teams in 6 games. It's a big ask to keep that up and move us into that75 pt category needed for play offs...but the trajectory is definitely in that direction. One game at a time though

We need nearly 2 points a game for the play offs - say 76 points

2 points a game would be 79 points for us.

Under Wilder we have 11 points from 6 games.
Play offs cut off point:

20-21: 77
19-20: 70
18-19: 74
17-18: 75
16-17: 80
15-16: 74
14-15: 78
13-14: 72
12-13: 68
11-12: 75

So high: 80, low 68, average 74.3. To put that in perspective, 75 pts would be another 42 in 23 games, which is 12 wins, 6 draws, 5 losses. If you had asked me 8 weeks ago if we could do that, not a cat in hells chance, but now, maybe, tough but not impossible. Big week coming up, I said earlier in the season we
needed to be within 5 points of play offs in Jan, and have a good window to have any chance, I'll stick with that. These 3 games are critical, we can only afford to lose 1 at most, but particular Saturday, a win is really important and a good test against an in form side.

Just had Chrissy Wilder on the blower saying he isn't happy updating the graph every game 'cos it may unduly raise expectations and anyway it's a marathon not a sprint. Managed to talk him round this once. ;)
Much appreciated! it means I can get my felt tip pens out and do some really scientific predictions..

40 points after game 26 ( Sheff Utd Away)
50 points after game 32 ( Derby County Home)
60 points after game 38 ( Birmingham Away)
70 points after game 44 ( Swansea Away)
