Season ends today?

If they don't fulfill all of the fixtures, they owe tens to hundreds of millions to broadcasters.
They'd open themselves up to law suits from the clubs who are relegated/denied promotion/miss out on Europe.

The only reason they're worried about the brand is money too.
I don't think they're desperate to retain foreign fans because of their insight in to the game.

I don't think they're trying to rush it back because people are so interested in the relegation battle and the fight for 7th.
The money thing is not that great - they owe nearly as much already, because they have not fulfilled the contract.

Smalltown - Can you please explain to me why you feel there is a need to play football, because at the moment I just don't get it.
Not immediately but I fee once it is safe to do so this season should be completed. It seems ridiculous to me to put so much effort into three quarters of a season just to abandon it. My logic suggests that when football can return it should do so by completing unfinished business.

Statement from EFL :

The EFL Board has met today to further consider the many complex financial and operational matters resulting out of the COVID-19 crisis, including how the 2019/20 campaign is concluded.
While there is much debate and discussion taking place publicly and privately regarding what should, or could, happen next, the EFL will continue to undertake consultation with our members before the next steps are determined.

No decision. Except that training cant start yet.

I was reading on the BBC sports page that the PL have already been told they might have to pay back to broadcasters a figure of £340m even if the season is completed. This is due to matches taken place without fans in the stadium and games played at different times.

Football is no more important than other forms of entertainment. Life without some joy is, well, pointless. Whether you like the opera, rugby a great pop concert, whatever. We have to get back to living life, not just existing. However, I don't care what happens to this season one jot. In the grand scheme of things none of us should care.

Restart sports when it is safe to do so, finish this season, start a new one, I don't mind, so long as as many as possible of us are around to enjoy it.

I think people are going to be underwhelmed and quite shocked at how dull and soulless non crowd football really is.

Has anyone’s opinion on restarting the season (minus the fans) changed in anyway after watching the reality today from the Bundesliga?
