Scotland v England

So what’s the drill, wearing England colours is ok amongst the Rangers fans but not the Celtic fans? Surely you don’t wear an England shirt amongst a load of Celtic fans?

Is there always a Rangers and Celtic end at Hampden?
No, it was ok to wear your colours amongst all the fans, those that didn’t have colours on were deemed to be looking for trouble.

That year, I had been working in Devon with a load of Jocks and was invited up for the game with a Geordie fan. Before travelling up to the ground I was in a bar opposite Central Station which had a band box on and they demanded that the English fans give them a song. I got up and started singing the Angelic Upstarts song England.

It was a bit surreal watching a pub full of Scots men singing England, oh England a country so great the land so fair and true.

For anyone going to this game, keep safe, If you want my advice, Just answer everything with ‘Och Aye the noo’, ask for a pint of ‘Dryboroughs Keg Heavy’ in any pubs and wear a ginger wig and a Tartan Tam O’ Shanter and naybody will be any the wiser.

The first time I went up I got run over.

After the game I walking in the gutter against the crowd and a Ford Cortina clipped my leg hip and arm and I got flung in the air. My mate straight away said "I'm not going to the hospital with you" so I jumped up and tried to limp off. The Jocks all grabbed me and were saying "are you alright Jimmy." Aye, I replied in the most pathetic Scotch accent you have heard. 🤣🤣🤣

I was at the game at Hampden in 89. We stayed with my uncle in Stirling and while we were walking to the ground my dad said to me that if anyone says anything to you, just respond with 'aye'.

I just remember Hampden being very run down and we lost 2-0 with goals from Bull and Waddle.

Incidentally game was played the day after Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-0 to win the title. Imagine that happening now?

Just looked at the attendance and apparently it was 147,400!!!

Edit: Never trust Wikipedia. Attendance 63,282
I went to that game without a ticket. I managed to get in as the police lost control. There were mobs of England supporters causing trouble all day.

I’m in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 at the moment (just), but I may as well be on the moon 🌙.
Nobody appears to give a sh1t about the game tonight, it appears to have as much appeal to the locals as pulling teeth!
Very strange indeed.

Didn’t even realise we were playing tonight .

Not even arsed if it’s a draw or loss . Send the younger lads out to get some game experience

Do clubs still have say over how many minutes players are allowed during international friendlies?

I seem to remember they could dictate so some degree.

Trippier LB Foden RW - seriously

Foden time in time out isnt given a proper chance in an england shirt as he’s not played in his best position and Southgate can’t recognise his potential

Wont play Foden as a 10 or midfielder as he thinks he isnt suitable or because Pep doesnt play him there but then sticks him RW in another position he doesnt play too.

And to top it off then plays Trippier LB who never plays this position at club level, what a clown this man is.

Crazy

Phillips 🤷‍♂️

He must've played more minutes for England in the last 12 months that for Man City? Don't get me wrong, he s a decent player, but he cannot be anywhere near being match fit.
Oh yes by a long long way.

Gareth wanted him in when he was in the championship for Leeds.
