Acklam Grange 1986 to 91 must haves...

Farah trousers (old mens slacks now)

Pringle, Lyle and Scott or at a push at Slazenger jumper.

Shirt with small collar and tie tied backwards so it's the thin end showing.

Brogues.

By 1995 the shoes had evolved to Kickers, Slazenger jumpers were still in and ‘thin Jims’ were still the tie of choice. Head bags with the zip off triangle side bit we’re also standard kit.

Head bags were around back then too. Also tracksuit bottoms with a dress shirt and British Knights or Fila trainers at the disco behind Trimdon shops.l

Stainsby 78/79/80 was Docs and Riders (with obligatory segs), Harringtons and donkey jackets. Haversacks with painted lids. Lots of the lads had skinheads.

81/82/83 was Spencers tapered trousers (black or grey) with white pinstripe down the side, all bought from Denim United on Gilkes St. Black or blue cardigans, shirts with collar pin and chain, and the lining pulled out of your tie so it was as thin as possible. Lasses went for the massive tie knot Pods and Loafers on your feet, but Docs were still around. There was a short fad for Polyveldt shoes too. A few of us were in black suede Chelsea boots. Socks always white. Never really bothered with a coat as we were in blazers.
A tapered wedge was the de riguer haircut, while carrying your vinyl Adidas holdall.
