Defending is not a binary measurement, he has some areas for improvement, but also some defensive strengths and is stronger than what we currently have.

He did, for PL football and I'd expect the deal Luton offered, to both Wolves and the player was better than what went to.

Although it's irrelevant in terms of the current situation anyway.
 
What about Matt Targett, it's frustrating that we always end up back at the full back areas but they are so important to how we play, quick, and offensive fullbacks in our team really help us in our play, obviously difficult to find, but at RB, Mumba at Plymouth &Targett from the geordies would be good options, where is Jamal Lewis these days...?

But he’s not a better defender than any of our left backs
Why do you think he got dropped very quickly at Luton and bombed out to Hull on loan
Why do you think he got dropped very quickly at Hull and only signed for them as there was no way out of the loan to buy agreement
And finally in a new season and even with a new manager he isn’t first choice left bacl
Let’s think now ?
It’s because he is a liability that teams can’t afford to carry for a few good crosses

He lost his place at Luton in the PL.

He's struggled at Hull, after starting ok, but they've been a basket case during a lot of that time and it's obvious that he isn't popular with their fans, due to links resigning for us.

It's all opinions of course, but imho he's absolutely better defensively overall than Engel and Borges.

Engel has been horrific at times and Borges, like him, gets deliberately targeted by teams.

He he some weaknesses defensively, but he's still better than this two and infinitely better in forward areas.

That Borges and Engel are better defenders than Giles. Borges has a higher pass completion rate and Engel more progressive passes but Giles has more progressive carries.
 
He clearly joined the wrong club , but if we could get him on loan or maybe a cut price deal like £3m then maybe it’s worth a shot. I think we have look at what we’re missing and that is someone who can pass and create from the left. if we look at our options none of them can cross a ball effectively and consistently. I know that Engel has shown some signs he can cross but not very effectively. McGree and Burgzorg are both very average from a crossing perspective but have shown they can create and support the attack, but it’s been a struggle for both of them.

As we all know, McGree has been well below his best this season although he started off so well early on so it’s a bit confusing what’s going on with the goat? Burgzorg is a bit of a risk player, throws his weight around and shows plenty of energy— currently he’s our best option but he is limited.

I’m sorry but his form over the last couple of seasons show his defending is worse than any of our full backs
 
I work with Hull fan and he has not had much to shout about this season but he states regularly that Giles is one of the worst players he has ever seen for Hull. Maybe extreme and over the top as he knows im a boro fan and loved Giles but sounds like they are not getting the same player.

Some times it really is a case of the right player at the right time with the right players around him.
 
Quick someone better tell Carrick and Scott he’s crap.

You would think a left back or 2 must be leaving if he does come back. It’s getting a bit ridiculous.

What about the lad we have from the Academy isn’t he meant to be decent?
