Giles will struggle in the EPL without a proper defensive coach.
Although, he's up against Mitoma and Sterling so far. Surely he'll have easier days!

Maybe thats why we didnt step up a bid,,, excellent for Champo but jury is out as a consistant prem defender in a promotion team that will be under the cosh most of the season

Giles cannot defend against good players. that's why Wolves got rid.
Some on here believe he is a great player, yes he can attack and can cross a ball, but he defends like a school kid in a playground.
The championship is his level.

He would not need to worry about playing against P.L opposition if he had come here. Would have been safe in the Championship for a long while

But if were all being honest, i think his defensive attributes were the last reason he got in the side, even if he did improve somehwat in his time here
He will never be a premiership level fullback, he might get away with it to a degree as wingback though, but never as an orthodox FB, not at that level, ever

Not sure why people are happy to chirp about this. Gave his all for us and was brilliant really overall.
He’s a 23 year old playing football and looking to advance what is ultimately a very short career. Good luck to him - playing against the premier leagues best like he is tonight can only help him improve.

Of course we could, we spent more in the likes of flint, saville and payero while spending the same on mcnair fairly recently. Maybe not this season but his fee was not something which would have remotely been an issue in the past.
I've just seen it expecting it to be a shocker but there's not much he's done wrong there. Think the criticism is harsh. Sterling has turned inside him into two other defenders. One of them two should have made a block or tackle. He's not let him go past on the outside. Showing Sterling onto his weak foot in a crowd of defenders would've resulted in a goal about 1 in 100 times.
