Russian GP

I suppose the reverse argument is why didn't MV just take the paltry 3 place grid penalty and see how he got on?

Not reallly as max/red bull is doing something that benefits him.

Bottas is being sacrificed to help Lewis ( yet again) that’s the difference.

But he is already ahead though that’s the point max is at the back so why sacrifice bottas yet again.

I really hope Russell doesn’t get this treatment.
It's going to be a tight title race. They'll need to stop red bull picking up as many points as possible on a track that suits merc. You're just whining because you hate Lewis. Other teams would and do do similar and you wouldn't bat an eyelid.

But if Mercedes have concerns about the reliability of the current engine why shouldn't they change it? You can't say it's OK for Max but not for Valtteri.

Name me another team tat sacrifices one driver over the other like bottas and don’t say Perez as he’s put himself out more often than not.

You think this is Valteris idea to go from the front to the back really ???

he’s leaving anyway so what does he gain from this ???

I'm not saying that I agree with the tactic but this has gone on since the start of F1 racing - Fangio kicked his team mate out of the other car so he could drive it. Piquet Jr in Singapore actually crashing deliberately to enable an Alonso win. They are just off the top of my head

Probably not but was 'Fernando is quicker than you' really true either in that race?
That was shameful but it was an on track team order ( I hate them but they happen now) a spur of the moment in the heat of battle decision.

this is totally different this is sacrificing another drivers race before the lights have gone out.

I honestly can’t recall anything like this before and didn’t bottas just get a new engine in Italy so again where’s the benefit for him.

Yes he did

It marks the second engine change in as many races for Bottas after a new power unit was fitted to his W12 at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

Perez😄

Not this year but pretty pretty much every ferrari team ever.

In other ways red bull always sacrifice their other driver by creating a "Max" car, to the detriment of the others

Neither you nor I know the answer to that question.
They're still fighting for the constructers, so I really doubt they'd deliberately chuck away having two cars in the top three or four just to maybe mess up Max's race. I assume there's a slight issue with one of the engine components, so as he was further down the grid than expected, and the redBulls are too they taken the decision to change it. It isn't the full 25 grid place, just 10 I believe so they've not just sprung a whole new engine, they've changed a couple of things they felt they needed to.

Ferrari in general but making Barrichello let Schumacher past. The shameful Jerez incident where they sacrificed not only Irvine entire practice but made Zonda risk the stewards wrath and I don't even think he was a ferrari driver.

@zorro_mfc is acting like Merc invented team tactics. That's why I think it's sad. Zorro blind hatred of Lewis just makes him lose all logic
