You really need to calm down zorro. Prize money in F1 is given for the Constructors championship, not the driver's championship.

As has been mentioned already why would Mercedes give up an advantage like that for the sake of it?

But you are basing it on 100% that your hypothesis is correct, that they have deliberately moved Bottas ten places down the grid. Which I don't believe is correct, they will have been other reasons factored in.

If RedBull had done this you wouldn't have mentioned it, as well you know.

No, you are assuming that. It could be tactical for the rest of the season, it could be something is half damaged and it is easy to pass here so they've taken the hit now as the RedBulls are out of position.

You have taken an assumption on your part that this a 100% Mercedes decision to damage Bottas's race to benefit Hamilton. I have no idea why they would do that, Lewis could be out at the 2nd corner and they would be risking losing constructor points for no reason.

Monza is the hardest circuit on engines and Mercedes have always had the most powerful engine and the fastest car, that isn't true now so they might be pushing the engines harder and the wear has increased and reliability has taken a hit. they can't switch modes anymore.

True. And this might also have been opportune to take an extra engine. He was only 7th anyway and now he has 2 pretty fresh engines for the rest of the season. Plus he did totally rag the last one in Monza. He was fastest driver by a long way all weekend

Exactly this, if he was on pole they wouldn't have done it, he's 7th, the RedBulls are out of position so they have made a tactical decision to change a couple of components (not the full engine) at this race as they think he can get well into the top ten and get some good points.

Bottas loves it here, he's always really strong at Sochi.
 
I’d love to see Llando win I’d love George too but there’s no way a Williams can keep the pace.

I don't care what Sky say they're always over egging the rivalries and trying to build up the excitement.

Obviously where Max (and Perez) are has had a major bearing on the decision, if Max and Perez were third and fifth they wouldn't (couldn't) have done it.

They have the option to do it as Bottas was much further back than expected and there must have been something on the engine that was worrying them. Bottas even answered it was better than risking not finishing which suggests there is a question mark over at least one of the components.

A complete new power unit to start 9 places further down is a great compromise, especially with the fastest car at this track and a track you can overtake
