Rumour on One Boro re Warnock and if we lost today

The problem in my opinion, is when Warnock said "one more season" (or at least implied it).

It's resulted in, not for the first time, in muddled thinking.

Gibson is happy for us to play the Warnock style, while Warnock is in charge. Fair enough. It's tried and tested.

But very few managers play that way. What's the point recruiting players suited to that system on multiple year deals, if the manager is likely going to b***r off next season? You can't recruit only offering one year contracts though.

So we've ended up with a bit of a hybrid approach. And NW isn't really in a position to object because he's the one planning on retiring.

But it's not really helping anyone. Easy to say with hindsight, but the decision at the end of last season should have been Warnock for at least 2 seasons or someone else.

Do you think part of the problem could be that the squad all know he's finished in 9 months anyway and that Scott has already got his replacement lined up?

It just seems there is something off, a lack of effort, fight, belief etc.

We look to be going through the motions treading water, the games seem more like rubber stampers at the end of the season with nothing riding on the result.

Relegation form for going on 10 months. Club invested this summer in a similar way we did for Karankas first season. Lot if football to play and a brave decisuon now could salavage something. Warnock remaining best case coukd be finishing 13 / 14 place but longer this goes on a very real possibility of getting sucked into a relegation fight becomes a realistic scenario. Act now before Tuesday and get him out. Did the job he came to do but if he stays we're looking at gettng someone else to rescue us. Karanka til end of the season

yeah probably true to a point. I dont subscribe to the view that players deliberately dont try (in most cases). I think N W is probably well liked by the players as a person, he's a charismatic guy.

But talented players want to be on the ball. They want to be trusted in possession. Warnock teams don't play that way. I can't imagine a lot of them are particularly enjoying their football, even when we win. And if they think another manager Who might let them play that way might be round the corner, then yes. They might subconsciously slack off a bit i reckon.

I can't see any pattern of play to represent a Warnock style of football. Last season in the first half of the season we went long ball like warnock teams and we scrapped and battled won second ball and got involved in a mass of s**thousery and controlled the midfield battle with Saville, Morsy and Howson and we defended well as a team.

Now we lose the midfield battle every game, win no second ball. Our midfield is significantly worse than last season. Little to no championship experience in there. I'm sorry but in the championship i'd prefer to have saville at this point than payero or siliki because despite being less technically gifted at least he could put a f**king foot in and do the dirty work.

When do teams bring in a 'shed load' of players and it immediately work? Not very often, see Forest and Ipswich as 2 examples. That said I thought if anyone could do that it would be Warnock but it's just not happening. Let's hope the Sheff United game is the turning point, but I don't think it will be.

Karanka until the end of season? People call Warnock a dinosaur, at least he's adaptable. Mangers like Karanka, Pulis, Wagner, Houghton and even Mourinho are dinosaurs as the game has quickly moved on from ultra defensive managers who counter attack, to managers who play out from the back and teams who press from the front. I don't think Karanka will work in England again unless it's as a coach.

Adaptable you say....hmmm 🤔

What system is he playing then......cos it`s none of those 2 you have listed. I honestly haven`t got a clue what he`s doing

I'd rather we played one system that we were good at, or had the players for and have the opposition change for us, rather than switching formations and players every week pretty much, that can't be helping us.

We don't need to be 'adapting' as much as we seem to be doing.

I guess on one hand it's easier to dispose given that i assume we have a succession plan in place (for the first time in years).

Gibbo seems a little more trigger happy these days and maybe he has at last overcome his anachronistic phobia of signing managers who are contracted already.

I wouldn't take much notice of OneBoro there's a few total bull shitters on there, I used to read it for the transfer gossip and the so called ITK people used to get 99% of things wrong.

I'm sure Warnock will be under pressure after recent results but I'd take rumours from that site with a pinch of salt is probably just people putting 2 and 2 together.

They do however have some posters generally ITK. I wouldn’t dismiss what they say.

There is, in my opinion, no way that Warnock goes before the end of the season unless we are in extreme jeopardy; and with Reading likely to get a points deduction, that would likely mean there might be only one relegation place that is contested. Gibson would be the bloke who shot Bambi's mother; the guy who sacked the ready-to-retire venerable manager. Unless of course Warnock does a Strachan and puts his hands up and says he can't do it with this bunch of players. God, the most depressing thing is how much we just drift, and drift. There seems no purpose to the club anymore. We pootle along, endless reboots and rebuilds every season, changes of emphasis here and there, different managerial appointments, terrible "next big thing" signings that are shown up by our academy products. I mean, Monk (!!) outcoached Warnock yesterday when he said the blueprint was there in the first minute disallowed goal about what was going to work - and we didn't do it for the rest of the game.

You know who it will be if he goes though - John Terry.

Exactly this.

Spent alot of money this season for him not to be here next season. Do we give him another year if we go up?

When you spend the money we have and have the young team we have, we need a manager who wants to be here for 3-4 years.
Other than Payero, how much did we spend? Not much I don't think...

The issue isn't the money spent anyway. The issue , for me, is the team has no shape, movement, and seemingly, no fight in them. I like Warnock, but there just doesn't seem like there's any clues that its going to work at them moment. So, seeing as though he's off at the end of the season why wait?
