Ross Stewart

Some of them are fuming about it on their board, except they're not because they're not bothered by us in the slightest.

Anyone who plays or is associated with football or whom is a true fan shouldn’t be finding joy in the injury to this guy. Yes he may have got a soft pen against us and conned the ref , that’s part of his job! However to think his career could be cut short or a big money move impacted is awful.

There are are few players out there who you wouldn't be bothered in the slightest if they picked up a long term injury - Stewart is not one of them.
Feel sorry for him, could be out for a year, not good. As said previously, he's come up from the lower leagues in Scotland and started to look like a very good Championship level forward - certainly not a Billy big bollox type.
Personally wish him all the best and hope he makes a full recovery👍

Ah Mackems, offended by everything yet ashamed of nothing. Even some of their own fans are calling out the hypocrisy of the thread. They are the dimmest of the dim.

They have a good point. Extremely distasteful to take joy in the serious injury of someone.

There's a big difference between being happy Sunderland have less chance of finishing above us and being happy a footballer picks up a serious injury.
My first thoughts upon hearing the news were of the impact it would have on our chances of finishing above them if I'm being honest.

Not even because it's Sunderland with this one.

If Pukki or Brereton-Diaz were out for the season, I'd be pleased for our chances, whilst obviously not wishing the player themselves ill.

Any team in the play-off hunt losing their top scorer is a benefit to us.

I wouldn't blame other teams for "celebrating" Akpom getting injured, he's that important to our chances.

I'd have been more happy about Stewart getting snapped up by a Prem side in this window than him doing his achilles in, tbh so would most decent thinking fans of our rivals, regarding Akpom.

Plus Sunlun are a funny one this year, whilst I certainly have no desire to see them do well especially not at our detriment, I also want Mogga to succeed. Tbf them finishing 7th would be a success enough with them being newly promoted, when coping with the loss of their top striker too.

Probably back for the Playoffs. Him and Mogga to do a Klinsmann in front of our fans when he notches the winner to permanently break fmttm.

Sunderland will be nowhere near the play offs come May.

No Ross Stewart and Tony’s usual nosedive down the home straight.

They had their 15 minutes of fun in the sun last weekend.

I think they have a good shout. The lad they have from Leeds looks a good prospect.

They played some really good stuff against Fulham yesterday even after Stewart went off.

Don’t think they’ll finish ahead of us but no reason they can’t make the playoffs.

Sunderland will definitely be in the playoff mix, along with 10-12 other clubs.

But, losing Stewart and Simms will be a big loss for them. Also, down the stretch, squad size/quality really comes into it - not sure how deep their squad is.

Think they will re-sign Simms deadline day

Be mental if they do - unless Dyche wants to look at the full squad over a couple of weeks to see what's he's got.
Just don’t see Everton using him even with new manager. Best for him to continue playing, hope I’m wrong though and Dyche keeps him

Us, West Brom, Norwich and Watford are the 4 I think will make it.

It was only 4 weeks ago they were all frothing at the mouth wanting Tony out.

A win against us and a draw away to Fulham and now all of a sudden they’re on their way to the Premier League.

I thought Ross Stewart dived for the penna.. I would be laughing my head off if one of our lot had done it!

Horrible injury hope he recovers quickly. Most of us would have been happy to see him here for £10m

I think he dived. Don’t believe there was enough contact to send him tumbling to the floor like a sack of **** like he did.

He conned the ref. Cheating in my book. That’s why he looked at the camera and winked after he did it. What goes around comes around.

If he’s out for the season then it helps us.
There's quite a few in our club that have gone down after little contact. He's no more of a cheat than them.

Interesting having a look at the Mackem forum there.

We all know a few decent mackems but they generally continue to be the most insular set of fans you will find with an unhealthy obsession about their ‘Big Derby Rivalry’ with their cousins from north of the Tyne and a contrived attitude towards the Boro.

No real football fan ever wants to see any player seriously injured, but that’s any player and Stewart is no more special in this regard than a youth team player who gets hurt.

I don’t think Sunderland will get anywhere near the play offs with or without Stewart, I think they are flaky.
