Romer Parrish and Star Wars

The memories this picture brings back!! Loved the horse ride just inside the shop where you had to shoot the Indians down...actually has made 47 year old me a tad emotional remembering
Wow, I had completely forgotten about that! :)
But, thanks to your post I certainly remember it now. I have very happy memories of that place (and Leslie Browns).

I remember drooling over those Star Wars displays as a kid, just after seeing it at the Odeon in 1977.

That shop was my favourite place, especially when I got a treat of an Airfix aeroplane kit.

I also remember the day that Big Trak was on display in the store doing it's little demo and firing phasers, and was blown away by how sophisticated it was for a toy. I never did get one ☹️

There's a few Big Trax on eBay (that's where I 'borrowed' this photo from), go on and treat yerself!

I never knew anyone with one either, but your post reminded that I longed to have one. Although, in hindsight, it was probably just as rubbish as that flipping Evel Knievel toy.

Stunt Cycle? What a crushing disappointment!

Yes. Yes it was.
As a child in the 60's & 70's there were plenty of toy shops on the Yorkshire side of the river to keep us interested and there was no need to venture into the deepest darkest Durham. ;)🤣🤣🤣

When my own kids were growing up, we had Toys 'R' Us, Smith's and of course RP.

The movie was released late December 1977. I don't think the toys hit the UK until April 1978 due to manufacturing delays. I still have a few at home now.

upstairs sold records, the tight staircase up was on the left hand side.
I remember there used to be an indoor fireworks sort of display, I’m sure there was a tin monkey smoking a cigarette as part of it
