Leslie Brown was the best ever! Die cast Battle of Britain Spitfires and Stukas. Captain Scarlett SPV, UFO Interceptor. And Airfix - so much Airfix!!

I remember drooling over those Star Wars displays as a kid, just after seeing it at the Odeon in 1977.
That shop was my favourite place, especially when I got a treat of an Airfix aeroplane kit.
I also remember the day that Big Trak was on display in the store doing it's little demo and firing phasers, and was blown away by how sophisticated it was for a toy. I never did get one

There's a few Big Trax on eBay (that's where I 'borrowed' this photo from), go on and treat yerself!
I never knew anyone with one either, but your post reminded that I longed to have one. Although, in hindsight, it was probably just as rubbish as that flipping Evel Knievel toy.
Stunt Cycle? What a crushing disappointment!

As a child in the 60's & 70's there were plenty of toy shops on the Yorkshire side of the river to keep us interested and there was no need to venture into the deepest darkest Durham.
When my own kids were growing up, we had Toys 'R' Us, Smith's and of course RP.
