Romer Parrish and Star Wars

I no doubt spent many an hour drooling over this display in my youth.
I've very happy memories of my Mum taking me into Romer Parrish :)

"A Star Wars display saved from a toy store that shut nearly 30 years ago is to go under the hammer at auction.
The display - made in 1982 and showing off toys including Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Chewbacca - was on show at Middlesbrough's Romer Parrish toy shop."

I bought a Boba fett figure from there back in the day. Worth a bundle now (I don't have it now, obviously!) Doh!

I’ve still got most of my Star Wars toys and characters, with many bought at Romer Parrish.. including a Milleniun Falcon and X Wing fighter.

Sadly they’re all showing a few battle scars from a well spent childhood playing with them so are of little monetary value but the sentimental value they hold is worth much more anyway.

I was obsessed with collecting small action figures as a kid. I use to love their display cabinets full of cowboys, Roman soldiers and everything in between.
Happy days.
Looking forward to seeing the recreation of Romer Parrish at Beamish when it's complete.

It was good but there was only one Leslie browns as that place was magical.

I've never heard of Leslie Brown and I am sure it made many a child's day getting a present/toy from there.

Romer Parish was a household name and in the 60's/70's and I spent many an hour there drooling over the toys, train sets, etc. We even took our own children there to choose presents. I also bought Thunderbird Island from there for my eldest son. It is still in the box in the loft.

Romer Parish was the most magical place on earth when I was a kid, I could literally spend all day in there.

I was a mad Star Wars fanatic, but also went through different phases of being into various other stuff, no doubt as I got a bit older.

I remember the Subbuteo section on the ground floor, the Hornby section on the first floor - being scared of falling down between the open wooden stairs and the Scalextric too there too.

Is is possible to feel that excited about anything as an adult?

The LEGO Store mate! absolutely love it hahaha

There is a programme following Vectis Auctions in Thornaby on the Yesterday channel that specialise in selling toys. its been brilliant up to now.
I'll have a look at that (y)

I do think the main reason why we enjoy childhood nostalgia is because you get feelings of excitement as a kid that can never be recreated as an adult, or is it just me in my sad middle-age? 😭
