Rodrigo Muniz medical

What type of player is he? Target man, finisher or one that will link attack and midfield? Don't think I've seen him play, but heard a lot about him last close season and this.

I think Watmore will go, I'm okay with it. He's done a job for us and had a great purple patch but he misses some unreal chances that would have probably seen us make the play-offs last year or be considerably higher in the league now, and maybe still in the league cup too.

I'm sure they both knew they'd be rotation options by their fees and the squad numbers they were allowed.

The way Wilder rotates, they'll all get minutes. Regular scorers get to keep their starting berth so there is an incentive to play to your best.
The thing about Watmore is, he actually gets into a position to make those chances, his near post anticipation is very good as we saw at Stoke and against Sheff Utd (albeit at full stretch). I hope at least one of these is as mobile and inventive.

5 Championship goals last season in 25 appearances last season.. only 2 of which were starts. Averages a goal every 97 minutes.

Welcome to the Boro, Rodrigo. Hope you get a bloody sack full! ⚽

Expect us to spend £6m-£9m on another striker and loan Coburn out.

New signing
Muniz
Forss
Watmore
Hoppe
Akpom

Does this explain the type of forward he is - sounds good to me!

A beast in the air, Muniz is a player who can finish off attacking moves, whilst he is also someone who has shown that he can vary up his game play and hold the ball up to bring others into play.

Considering the service that Muniz is set to benefit from, in the likes of Isaiah Jones, Riley McGree and Ryan Giles, this could prove to be a productive loan for the Brazilian.

Possessing all the right attributes to make this move work, Muniz could swiftly emerge as an integral part of Middlesbrough’s frontline.

If we got another in I think Watmore could end up out the door too, since Akpom's resurgence, Watmore doesn't convert enough chances. We'd be wanting another year option on Akpom though, if he's sticking around, as if he does actually end up a decent player then we won't want him leaving for nothing.

I don't think keeping 6 is a good idea, not enough minutes for some and they will get ***ed off.

Watmore will go to. No way we will keep 6 strikers

Could well be right mate, yeh.

As much as Watmore is full of endeavour and graft, his conversion rate is very poor and I think Wilder will be growing frustrated with that.

He'll also demand endeavour and graft as a 'non negotiable'.. everyone in the squad should be doing that, so I don't think he'll look at that in Watmore as praise. It'll be a 'yeh, rightly F***ing so you should run about and work hard'.

He does, totally agree, and all forwards miss obviously. It just seems to me he regularly misses chances that would garner us points. I wouldn't be against him staying at all closing out games pressing high up the pitch is an obvious strength. But the fact Wilder has gone all out to bring in 4 forwards, we still have Akpom who seems to be in favour (Hobson's choice maybe) and Coburn in the mix if his injury prevents him being loaned out till January maybe, then Watmore looks more likely to leave.

If Wilder trusted his injuries and abilities to get us the goals to fire us up he wouldn't have loaned in Connolly & Ballogun last January and brought in (seemingly) four new strikers this window.

So without losing anyone and with rumoured incoming players, we'd have:

Riis/Larsen
Muniz
Forss
Hoppe
Akpom
Watmore
Coburn

I'd expect us to keep 5 for selection and Coburn is out for two months and will need to get match fit after that, which probably takes him to after the World Cup break to be in full contention? Or pretty much the January window.

Be interesting to see how it pans out.

Think Coburn will be off out on loan. 5 is the most we need, but the 5th has got to be happy with very little game time.

If we sign Muniz and are still looking at another big striker signing (and we should be), then it does sadly look like either Watmore might be available for transfer or we're still trying to move on Akpom.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we settle for what we've got mind, but with the Larsen (and possibly Riis) bids left on the table in case clubs change their mind at the end of the window.

Bringing in Muniz (and the form of Akpom) strengthens our hand a bit now in those negotiations.

Yep, typically Brazilian technique, untypically Brazilian aerial prowess!

Looks similar to Strand Larsen to be fair so I think this might be the end of that one.

I think there's a chance we get Muniz and Riis in which case Coburn (loan) and Akpom (permanent) will leave imo.

Wilder said he’s keeping Akpom.

He's going to be one of the top boys for the Frontline too? 😳😳
