Riverside commuting

Congratulations to AET who came up from Peterborough yesterday in a 400 mile round trip. Let's hope he can manage this on a regular basis. 🤞
Does anyone else make such a journey? Who is furthest away and still gets to the Riverside?

Wife and I live in Borehamwood and regularly get train up on return journey as we’re season card holders. Couldn’t make yesterday due to work, but always fill our seats with friends when we can’t make it…

We met a guy in the Infant Hercules a few years ago and he was a season ticket holder.. Flew in from (I think it was) Norway for every home game. Top bloke and must have/be costing him a small fortune.
I'm sure that must be a record.

Still got my season ticket,I come down from Edinburgh, door to door it’s about 330 miles round trip. I try and get to a couple of away games as well.
Years ago I met a lad from Southend who would regularly get to home games.

If we set off from Kings Cross around 9am we can normally get to ‘Boro station for just after midday… into Vaults for a couple or three before the game then over to the fanzone for a meet with friends…
The journey back down afterwards is more challenging though but we’re normally back in Borehamwood by around 9.30pm and having some good food in the local restaurant soon afterwards.

For a Saturday 3pm kick-off I usually leave home around 9:15 and get back around 22:30. If the direct trains between Piccadilly and Middlesbrough aren't running then you can add up to an hour each way. Grinds you down after a while.

Did you go to qpr. Upper tier second row?
If not there’s another lad from your way goes to most games

I travel from E York’s every home game which is just short of a 200 mile round trip.
However, for 11 years I travelled from Hampshire, a 600 mile round trip and in all that time I only ever missed one home game which was a league cup tie. I went through 3 cars and put 100,000 miles on each of them. Oh, and I also went to away games!

I lived in Berkshire for 8 years and had a season ticket/card. I missed about half a dozen matches in total across those seasons. I was lucky that I had control over my calendar to an extent.
For 5 seasons I had no young uns. I still went on their birth, as it was first seasons at the Riverside. We then moved up to North Yorks.

Walking out of Ayresome under Todd and Lennie with 270 miles to do on a tuesday night and in at work next morning, was losing its lustre when there were often less than ten thousand in the old place for those few seasons.

Every time I drive back to Richmond after a match I remember what it was like and think about those who are still battling up and down the motorways or on trains late at night. Great fans.
