Sad news if true. I had a real soft spot for Francis, and was the proud owner of a Detroit Express footy top as a kid because Francis played for them. I can still vividly recall that goal against Malmo in the European Cup Final where he flung himself at the ball and landed on what looked like a concrete shot-putt circle.

That's sad. My first pair of "proper" footy boots were Adidas Trevor Francis and one of my first footballing memories - or games I remember watching - was that diving header in the European Cup Final.

Tbh I was wondering about him as he’s always been involved from a pundit standpoint over in Asia or Middle East. It’s a bit of a shock as he’s not that old and always kept himself busy and fit.

My first Boro game in 1971 and Trevor played for Birmingham City he was 17 years old. He went on to be a class player and a credit to his profession
