91 a great in Innings. Was Granada commentator (took over from Barry Davies) and then switched to BBC As Davies did.

Agreed, not only a great voice but he was so articulate with his reporting — and theatrical, I always just hung around waiting for his reports. RIP.

There were so many great cometators of that era Gerald was certainly one. the only i cant stand to this day is barry davies who always seemed to think he was smarter than everyone else

Play-off finals in those days were 2 legged affairs. We won 2-0 at Ayresome Park in the 1st leg and lost the 2nd leg 1-0 at The Bridge

Yep, I was at the first leg, and in a sulk my Dad wouldn't take me to the away leg (he went). I guess he was right given what happened.

I was referring to the fact they said Walsall's final went to the third match. I don't remember that

Didn't Barry Davies moonlight as a figure skating commentator when Torvill and Dean were big?
