Respect

I’m not that bad Harry, just don’t like attention seeking prat’s which from the way he worded that he clearly is.

I have no issue at all with discussions about the monarchy, Id have no problem if the public (not government) were allowed a vote to disband it and it went. I am not a rolayalist in the slightest.
It is the first time I’ve seen something from redclown- I just pop in occasionally these days.
Have I missed something?
Genuinely, btw
On the basis of that one message it’s difficult to reconcile your response?

Maybe it’s an over reaction by me, but when reading the thread it just comes across as more attention seeking claptrap. Maybe my dislike of clowns made my response a little harsher than it should of been though 🙈

I’m with you there fella.
Clowns are definitely a sisnister bunch not to be trusted

Can we talk about respect?
Respect for the living
as well as for the dead.

Can we talk about the mourners
who buy the newspapers,
who lap up the capers
of the unwise entitled,
the juice still tanging their lips
as they bow at the coffin lid.

Can we talk about respect?
Respect for an old lady,
her family’s backs
tattooed for target practice
for the guttersnipers
whose blood money is paid
from your daily newspaper,
whose owner’s sole desire
is to take the lady’s house
and rain down his fire.

Can we talk about respect?
About respect for ourselves,
we fill our hearts and minds
with all that hatred and bile.

Can we talk about respect
and think twice about who
we give our money to?

Nobody isn’t say you can’t speak freely, but maybe threads discussing the queen’s health and the death, then maybe discuss it another thread.
That's my approach, I've avoided any direct comments about the person, and been absolutely respectful on threads about her health/passing. Other threads I've been more critical, but not at the individual but at the system. I'll continue that until after the funeral, at which point I'll reassess when its fair game to throw criticism at individuals.

There will follow understandable challenges of the Monarchy, calls for a Republic in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and here too.
That is healthy. If there are lots of people who would strongly prefer change, then the least they should have is the opportunity to state their case and to be treated with respect in putting forward their views.

The emotive issue over the last couple of days has simply been about the timing and the question as to why a small minority of people can't show respect when it is clearly so important to others.

My own personal view is that our Monarchy is well aware of the challenge and that the King will behave in a way respectful to that challenge, knowing that not to be will simply empower the protagonists and be against his own principles.

I think he will "rule" respectfully, humbly and positively and in turn strengthen the Monarchy he knows is forever fragile.
It will get smaller, more concentrated and cheaper. It will be politically neutral, but in touch with public mood.

You wouldn't design our system from scratch, but then again you wouldn't design much that currently is from scratch either.

It’s all anyone can ask for
