Respect

I doubt the ad revenue would amount to a full time income for anyone, to be fair about that. Is the board a profit centre? I doubt that it can generate much.

Some mods will be volunteers too.

I'm not sure what people expect from a fans forum that costs them nothing.

(Some posts were probably inappropriate and should be deleted)

As a Republican I still mourn the death of the Queen because I admire her selfless devotion to duty for so many years. She has been part of my life for over 60 years in her Christmas day TV address to the nation which we always had on, even if in the background. It feels like a part of my childhood and life has died.

That said, it is the 'hangers on' and members of the family that commit crimes (allegedly) and 'get away' with these because they can pay money to do this. All of course funded by the hard working tax payers like myself. These are the ones I do not respect. We are all left feeling like fools. Money and power talk.

When it comes to grief often people use humour as it is cathartic. People express their grief in different ways. We live in a free country ( allegedly) and as the saying goes 'I may not agree with what you say but I will defend your right to say it' Feeling offended does not make a person right.

So to the mourning. I hope it doesn't go on for too long. We all need lifting as a country after what we have all been through and are still enduring currently.

An unbiased moderator or two would go a long way help us through this. Fortunately it's a one-off situation.

I clarified my thoughts precisely because I am a moderator, not because I would have felt any need to otherwise (I wouldn't as a matter of fact). I have looked at reported posts (there weren't many) and acted upon what I saw as fairly as I could. I haven't seen anyone revelling in the queen's death, far from it. Most posters calling themselves republicans or non-royalists (including myself) have expressed sadness in some way or another. If there are any new reports, I'll look at them as fairly as possible too.

The country feels to me like it did when Diana died. I remember saying to one bloke that I didn't know her and it was just as sad to me as any young mother dying in a road accident - terrible for her family and friends. He was mortally offended that I wasn't joining in the massive outpouring of tears. The Queen did a remarkable job but I still view her as an old lady who I didn't know. No offence meant to anyone on here who feels otherwise, I can't be bothered arguing.

Borolad, there were too many people point scoring politically on the back of the Queens death and just written off as, the person having a go at the government and not the queen, you even did it yourself posting the below comment after the news of the Queens death had come out, you have to understand the sensitivities at the moment, it is no time to be political point scoring out of this situation, this is just to help you understand the weight of feeling, that I am sure will come to you over the coming days both throughout this country and around the globe.

Your comments:
She probably met Liz Truss and decided it was time to throw in the towel.

Not a very constructive answer is it?
I think if a head of state of this country has died, let people pay their tributes without having to tell people which side of the fence you sit in the immediate aftermath

I means it’s not that difficult to understand. There many other days we can talk about the right and wrongs of the monarchy

It’s about the title of this thread, respect.

@BoroMart has some of the strongest views and being republic nation, yet he’s managed to find the right tone in the immediate aftermath. Few could take note

I don’t have a problem with humour side of things either. That’s how some people deal with it as long as it’s not distasteful or is deliberately provocative

What is it you are after Stu?

Tbh I just think the mods are getting a bit of unfair stick. As borolad pointed out nearly all the republican messages were people saying they don't want a monarchy but compliments to the queen.

Someones asking for a neutral mod, is it so unfair to ask what they mean by that?
