Remember when Arsenal were struggling and there was talk of Arteta getting fired? Deja Vu for you lot?

I’m fully behind carrick btw

but this every manager needs time look at Ferguson etc is the biggest myth in football just because one manager did well in 5 years doesn’t they all will.

Give us arsenals transfer budget as well then.

They won't all come good, but they should all be given the time to prove one way or the other, Jedi.
I agree but I hated the fact that everyone always quotes how close Fergie was to getting sack etc… when the reality was he was a phenomenal success in Scotland long before heading south in fact I’d argue his success at Aberdeen beats his Man U achievements as that was staggering look at it now to break that old firm grip.

I think he won the cup winners cup at aberdeen if my memory serves. That probably surpassess anything at united, except for maybe the longevity he enjoyed there. He had to rebuild the team a few times.

He did they beat Real Madrid

Remember Rob Edwards? When Watford binned him and then he got Luton promoted to the premier league! Lol

11 games
Won 3
Drew 5
Lost 3
14 points

We’ve got 6 games to win 9 points to equal our own start.. or 13 points to have promotion form!

Win 3 or 4 out of the next six?

Ferguson actually had United 2nd in his second season, so they didn’t totally under achieve for the first 5 years.

Clearly Carrick wouldn’t and shouldn’t get 5 years.

We will stick with him, it’s different to the Wilder situation where we all knew what had gone on behind the scenes. But it should be noted that we have been crap since April, not August.

Only on FMTTM…….
Would we try and draw similarities with Arteta and Fergie - when we are bottom of the championship :)

As others have said - hardly anyone is calling for Carrick to go. Quite the contrary, he has a lot of goodwill.

This. Im not sure Arteta had ever been bottom of the Championship with the worst start ever and and no league wins for about ten games either.

However Carrick should go nowhere although our recruitment department should have a good look in the mirror.

So let me get this straight, when a team starts the season well (after 4 games in the PL) it’s ok to jump on the ‘manager is great’ bandwagon but when a team starts poorly we’re not allowed to say the manager is poor???

Just remind me cos I’m very forgetful nowadays did Arsenal end up winning anything last year and have they won anything under Arteta???

I think the point is that it’s relative. Nowadays managers are often sacked far too early. I think that’s really the only point to make.

12 permanent managers in 14 years. Wow. And it’s not like it’s working.

Some people are calling for his head, maybe not on here, and not many. But the number will grow with every week that passes that we’re nowhere near the top 6.

Tbf sacking managers after bad starts has worked we have bounced and climed the table on all occasions we've been in this league. The problem has been in the next seasons start after a summer of dreaming about promotion

It’s worked short term. It’s stopped us becoming a division 3 club. But it has also meant 1 season out of 15 in the PL. We don’t seem willing to hold our nerve and we always take the view that promotion is achievable from November. Obviously it is possible, but we haven’t managed it yet, even though we’ve tried it 7 times in this period.
