Red Faction - walking out on 30th minute

Good on them. I’ll be joining.
This is exactly the type of thing a fans collective is for. Like the flag -
STRENGTH IN UNITY.

There’s people in this area, mams and dads, who can’t afford to take kids to watch Boro.
So think about that - the alright jacks who will pay the renewal, and call people making a stand stupid.
We’re not copying sunlan or sheff utd. We’re making a stand and letting it known that the increase price and short deadline aren’t acceptable.

Red faction aren’t to big for their boots, they’re not showing off….they’re making a stand and inviting everybody to join in.

I get that people who pay for 1 game won’t do it, I get that the corporate brigade won’t do it (they’ll be gone by the 35th and back on the 70th) but there’s about 20000 who could and that would go some way to showing gibbo that his team has cocked up.
I’d guess we’ll be back to maybe 15000 ST next year.

We love you Boro but there has to be a cut off point on the price of love

I think it's fair enough. There was a 300+ post on here with most people saying the prices are too hight. I suspect for a lot of people on Teesside it is too high. So by definition your traditional Boro fan is being priced out.

But the costs to run the club justify the charge. So, do we want the game to be only accessible to old fashioned middle classes or, in my world, folk like my Dad and uncles from Thorntree who had very little but could just about afford to go to the match. My Dad used to squeeze me in at Ayresome Park for cost reasons. As most did I'm sure. You cannot do that these days.

So until we are self sufficient we have to pay to be competitive. What's the right answer? I don't know. But I completely support the Red Faction on this. I might even join them. Not sure yet.

Can see the RF's point but I can't see Steve Gibson changing anything. What happens the next time the prices go up and the fans don't agree...another walk out? He can't be seen to back down I don't think. I'd be surprised if he does.

Probably not change his mind but when the cash stops coming through the door due to non renewals what's he going to think. Will we be going back to under 10,000 at home games, something has to give.

The reaction to this latest price gouge may influence the next attempt at one.

The club almost certainly won't back down on their ridiculous pricing, but the large public backlash to this one may make them reconsider any price rises next year.

It’s a legitimate action for them or anyone else who joins in to take.

But as things stand this club only needs 1 fan to continue to trade and his name is Steve Gibson.

I think the pricing/comms/initial deadline about the season ticket prices have been a clown car crash.

I thought with a perk behind the financials at the beginning of the season and the decision to convert debt for equity were first steps into a proper explanation of just what a disaster the cost of trade in the Championship is for all clubs bar the parachute protected teams and how the MFC model was going to be developed to counter this.

I do wonder if it one step forward and two steps back though

I can’t see many others walking out and I can’t see this achieving anything. The club have made their position and reasoning clear. I disagree with it and won’t be renewing next season, but I also won’t be walking out.

30th minute for the rest of the game or until the 2nd half?

Not much point in coming down from Newcastle for the sake of 30 mins football!
Most people are in queues in the concourse from the 40th minute

Whilst I dont agree with the hike in prices, i dont think a protest of any sort (apart from not renewing) will make the club sit up and take notice, but by then fans may be left with a self inflicted £30-50 increase on top of the early bird price to find when STs go back on sale in the summer

EDIT ... and the loss of the Chairman's Drink?

How so? My season ticket has gone up by £30. I wouldn’t call that shafted.

That's yours ...
Congratulations..

There's a bucket load of unjustifiable decisions regards the pricing at the club including, not exclusively..

- the additional expense for new season tickets
- the additional expense for finance
- the walk up price for under 15s
