Red faction statement.. ticket prices

I don't need to stand up for Gibson, he's a big lad after all. Maybe people should be asking the question, why Red Faction have climbed down from their previous position. Maybe something has happened or threatened to happen that made them change their stance. Food for thought.

Well we haven't really heard anything from the first meeting so wouldn't expect to hear anything from this one.

Does the fact it's a one sided view not tell you/the supporters representatives/the club representatives something?

Why are threads being shut down that don't break board rules?

Yeah, it told me that one group of fans, who had similar objectives, were being villified by another group of fans who were noisier. And I knew that there was another story that wasn't being told because some at the meeting preferred not to get into a public spat, or had other reasons why they felt unable to defend their corner. And I'm even more certain that it was the right thing to do having read this thread. But, beyond this moment now, see the forum rules and note the one that you have just broken.

Well what it should tell you is that there is a large percentage of the fans that are still dissatisfied and better communication from the representatives that attend these meetings would be welcomed. If there is nothing coming back from these meetings as to what has being discussed, then the fans are not being represented at all. It is exactly as people are accusing, a closed shop meeting.

Representatives shouldn't get into a public spat and they have no corner to defend, and this is where the system is breaking down. In essence they should be a post box and a messenger. They should deliver a message or numerous messages from the fans to the club (irrelevant of whether they personally agree with that message or not). They should then communicate back the response (again whether they agree with it or not). They are there to speak on behalf of the wider fan base and communicate back any feedback from the club.

I've never been bothered about the standard of football when watching Boro. It was all about watching Boro, the opposition were just another team (most times!!). Match day craic, few beers with mates.

I had my ST for convenience - was going to every home game anyway so made sense - not particularly bothered about what league we were in, who we played, what freebies I got etc. Guaranteed entry, job done.

Now, picking and choosing games as a walk up pleb.... again who we are playing doesn't bother me, it's trying to fit it into the family schedule/ finances / tie in with visiting family back in the NE.

Over the past few years the financial aspect has become THE main factor as I now have my kids wanting to go. £130-150 to include tickets, petrol, food etc......not a cheap day out.

So that's still my big gripe. Cheapest walk up will be £33-34 + booking next season, with my lad £15+booking (for a 10 yr old). Still hefty prices which I struggle to justify.

Feel sorry for the kids these days, being priced out of what for me turned into (probably) the biggest part of my life as a teen. Creating a haves and have nots system isn't good - if you can't afford it tough sh*t attitude. Going to bite Boro in the bum in a few years unless they establish themselves in the PL.

Mark Motley was trying to communicate on twitter when abused.
He resigned immediately. He was the minute taker. No one else took notes. Those fans did shoot the messenger.

There as absolutely no excuse for sending personal abuse to anyone over this issue. That is Mark's prerogative to not issue the notes on the back of that.

But there were numerous people there and I'm sure someone can recall the general gist of the meeting and the reasoning given from Steve Gibson as to why we are as expensive as what we are.

The message seems to be that the club have upset quite a lot of its supporters but that we, as supporters, have a duty to forgive and forget and move on. Things will be better next time. Just like we said they would the last time this happened. There will be no more discussion or debate, there will be no more information made available. There will be no more questions. Now, we must move onto Stoke on Saturday. Carrick and the players need you. We need three points, etc.

TBF I'd happily attend one of these meetings, but it appears the only way of getting an invite is if you have the time and resources to form and establish an ultra group, or run a podcast!
If you fancy starting a Stockport (Heatons) Boro Ultras group I could be up for it. We could fight the kids outside the Co-op, get mentioned in the local FB groups with a loud "tut" "WHOSE HUSBANDS ARE THESE????"

This is just my opinion but this is exactly why the chairman should get his arsè down to BBC Tees and openly engage with supporters and the town at large instead of hoping a handful of hastily arranged, closed-shop meetings conducted in private will quieten any dissenting voices. It’s just kicking the can down the road as they say. We’ll be back here when they announce the walk up prices and then again this time next year.

I think that sums the mood up correctly. Seems a lot of fans are beyond the point of being a bit narked to being pretty hostile towards the club. Straw breaking the camels back? I dunno. Not good.

The club have read the room very, very badly and it's left a very bad taste. The "right that's sorted, let's move on" isn't sitting right with a lot of fans.

Can honestly see this rumbling on, it's not yet over.

But the defence (which I have made myself many times) is 'fans take his words too literally' etc.

I think the time has come for him to get some proper media training if that is the case, its the modern world. And if he's had some, he needs to get some more/better training!

The silent treatment is doing more damage than the occasional foot-in-mouth comment now.

Get him on the Boro Breakdown and on with Simon Jordan!

There’s loads of truth in that. Look how the majority of posters on here and elsewhere responded to the Kieron Scott interviews with Tees and the recent podcast. He generated a lot of goodwill from just being open to going on and engaging. You can disagree with him or some of the things he said but at least he was out there, fielding questions and offering information. To just not bother is ridiculous really.

I do have some details around Steve Gibson's argument - but not detailed. I think the details and accuracy are all important. I don't want to give you an incorrect figure.
I hope you understand.
I promise that even if the notes from the meeting between MSForum and RF and the club might not be retrievable, I will endeavour to find a way to get Steve Gibson's argument about pricing presented to the forum.
