Recommendations on where to purchase a new PC Tower

I am not looking to buy an all-in-one PC, but a tower and monitor separately. The monitor can wait as I have one that will do for the time being. Just trying to get a tower with the best specs/power for my buck. Willing to spend the bucks for a decent tower. I need an upgrade as my current tower is ancient and is very slow. I did not even realise that they seem to have stopped manufacturing PCs with CD/DVD trays, thats how long I have been out of the game!

Obviously there is Currys PC World and Argos, but willing to look at other stores or on-line.

Recommendations on a tower or where to purchase would be much appreciated. Cheers

Are you sure you need a tower? You can get perfectly reasonable mini PCs these days. I have an Intel NUC I use for streaming to my main TV and a Gigabyte Brix that replaced a desktop tower; The NUC manages 4K resolution and the Brix drives 2 1920x1200 monitors. I have an old tower in my basement as a server and my main office PC is a tower, but only because I need a hefty video card to drive 2 4K monitors.

I bought my last two ( inc this summer) from cyberpower based on team valley.
You can hand pick all the components

I bought one recently from Fierce PC. It was a gaming version but they do other versions too. They build it and are independent. The only gripe has been a dodgy cable between the tower and monitor.

I use Advance Systems on Linthorpe Road, local business and always very helpful 👍

I've never bought a machine in there (just bits & Pieces & a CD drive) but they have always been very helpful when I've picked their brains on issues I was having with machines.

I'll second @DCI_Gene_Hunt - got my new PC from https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ at beginning of December .. no issues .. depends on what you're looking for and what you want it for though .. If you know your PCs, then I recommend a build such as you can do yourself at somewhere like in the link .. mix and match your own parts to get exactly what you want / need .. if you don't know your PCs, then best to get something ready-built although it won't necessary be "best" for your needs.

Do they do upgrades ? On an existing rig ?
They certainly used to - they did do things like new hard drives etc - Still open as well, "sort of" anyway :)

I build PCs in my spare time, if you need any help, even if it’s just to point you in the right direction drop me a message.

Do not use Curry’s though! I told my mate not to use them this Christmas for his son and he still did, ended up getting a PC for £900 that I could have built for £600. It’s ridiculous.

Second that - over priced and awful customer service - avoid like the plague.

Upgrading hard drive & memory is quite straight forward if that's all you need - a bit of reading up on it before hand and away you. I've done loads.

Upgrading motherboards & processors is a bit more tricky & I'd leave that to someone who knows what they're doing.
