ray192

Started travelling with Derbyshire reds in 96. Got to know Ray really well. On the odd occasion Red Clowne couldn't make it, I'd nip down from Doncaster, pick him up and travel up to the game. Ray would natter non stop, going up and coming back which made the journey more enjoyable, together with his "welcomIng gestures" to any Mackems or Geordies we past. Will miss you mate RIP

I guess I'm lucky. I knew Ray as a fried after interacting with him for years on the board, thats the original board so we are going back nearly 20 years.
Ray was always supportive, with a positive word and a smiley or thumbs up.
His lack of IT abilities was legendary, his ability to ask long complex question in a text primarily by using emoticons, a constant source of humour.
He had his own seat in the Navi, he did't have to go to the bar, the staff kept an eye on him and a knowing look would result in a beer appearing "as if by magic".
On the board Rays caff was an early morning regular, people would "come in" order a breakfast and have the enjoyment of knowing that madness andchaos was outside.

As a Boro fan he'd seen it all, done it all and called many a ref and linesman a useless b@stard on the way. His loathing of Blunderland or the Barcodes and Leeds was legendary, he always referred to Peter Beagrie as "judas", as an ex NUM member, he knew how to hold a grudge.

Both myself and PK are distraught at the loss of a dear friend.

Sleep well Ray, you've earned your rest

I am very sorry for your loss and to all those that knew him.
Take care and Up the Boro!

What awful, sad news.

I never met him, but he was one of those lovely posters who made you feel like you'd be privileged to know.

I'm so pleased he and his good lady had those last 10 years together.

He was so amusing at times.
He was life and soul of the party - even after we lost - was characteristically blunt. He could sum up our performance in two words!
A great loss, but a time to reflect on one of lifes "characters".(y)

RIP Ray. Often not possible to pick up peoples real personality on these boards but you could tell Ray was genuinely a good decent honest man. Thoughts to his family.

Some of you will remember ray192 from the old board.

Sadly Ray passed away this teatime. He suffered a heart attack at his home, his wife Pam had called the ambulance crew/paramedics but after trying for some time they couldn't save him.

Another loyal Boro fan has now gone to the Holgate End in the sky - halfway back, just to the right of the goal.

Up the Boro.
Thats sad red_clowne, I remember Ray a lot from the old board & expected him to show up on the new board, he's probably been posting longer than I was, but I don't think I ever engaged with him TBH

Sad to see a name you recognise that has left us

RIP Ray, another member to the holgate in the sky
