It's not about supply chains being robust; it's that like a lot of the economy they're operated on a Just in Time basis. We've decided as a country to abandon that model where imported materials are required.
Nah, Matt is alright......What an absolute c**k that man is.
There's a simple answer to it, quote tweet them add their name and shame themHere’s what they think is abusive most of them are simply blocking people now or putting out tweets where the only people who can comment are of their choosing.
It’s abuse I tell thee
You’re cleverer than this. Brexit has accelerated the issue. Privatisation is also part of the problem. When.you have major problems, it’s normally several things happening at the same timeThis isn't that. This is a clear brexit failure. It's also another instance of the gorvernemnt doing something nasty and dangerous to hide that brexit failure
That's a good point too. England should really have not-for-profit water utility companies like Wales do. Of course, the Tories would never consider such a thing. You’re cleverer than this. Agreed but like making getting a HGV licence easier and making our raods more dangerous, this pumping of raw sewage is directly linked to covering up a problem caused by brexit. You’re cleverer than this. privatisation of utility service is a failure, agreed, but that's a general cost/value proposition failure. You’re cleverer than this. Brexit has accelerated the issue. Privatisation is also part of the problem. When.you have major problems, it’s normally several things happening at the same time
directors should go to prison for that kind of negligence. The governance of these firms is laughable; Southern Water's actual defence for the dumping they got fined for, was negligence.
The right wing media did a total hatchet job on Corbyn. I'll never understand why those who would have benefited most from his ideas were convinced he was a danger.Agree with both @SmallTown and @BoroMart latest posts
people think corbyn was a crackpot for wanting things back in public ownership
I was never a full blown corbynista, but he was absolutely right that key utilisy should be public owned.Agree with both @SmallTown and @BoroMart latest posts

With regard to the transport infrastructure; this particularly makes sense, considering a lot of it is owned by other countries' government owned companies.I was never a full blown corbynista, but he was absolutely right that key utilisy should be public owned.
People always use the trains in the 70s as an example of why we shouldn't have nationalised services. But we are now one of the most mature countries for service industries and the world leader in IT service industry (again largely due to the government creating standards adopted world wide before those standards got sold off for profit). Nationalised rail would be very manageable today with modern rolling stock instead of 1950s tech, with modern service management techniques and would be value driven not profit driven. It's a no brainer for me to bring transport, electricity, water back in house. I'd consider internet connectivity too even though he was lampooned for it....sick of teams meetings with people glitching because they're in the wrong part of the country
The East Coast Main Line shows a railway can be ran public. In fact, in the last ten years it has been ran public for all but two/three of those years.I was never a full blown corbynista, but he was absolutely right that key utilisy should be public owned.

Good point they vote again on Wednesday, they can be influenced"Amused" to read that Southend has had to urgently close its beaches, only briefly "Southend City" now "Southend Shi tty"
I would urge everyone who has a Tory MP to contact them and politely (because if you are rude they will ignore you) ask them to address the problem of untreated and partially treated sewage being discharged into our waterways and seas.
Not only are the the laughing stock of Europe we are adrift in a poisoned sea. Sceptered Isle? Sceptic Isle...
So, they failed to meet the legal requirements. The question should be why did the Government do nothing about it?Re: the crabs. Undersea electricity cables are supposed to confuse crabs (don't ask me), causing them to 'freeze' when they should be migrating, so could this could be a factor?
In any event, Thames Water has been dumping sewage and having chemical spillages in London rivers for decades, so the idea that the EU era was a halcyon age doesnt quite fit the narrative.
