Rate Carrick's overall performance out of 10

* Carrick didn't have "a Premier League level player sold from under him halfway through the season".
He stated quite clearly several times in public, in front of the camera's and on the radio, that Villa had made an offer for Rogers, who expressed a desire to move back to the West Midlands. Carrick accepted Rogers wanted the move, fully understood it was an excellent opportunity for him, and the club negotiated the best deal for the Boro.

As a side note: he didn't have Crooks sold from under him, either. Crooks was offered the chance to play in America and take his family. Crooks himself said it was an unmissable opportunity, and Carrick agreed.

It would have been better for the team has Rogers stayed but Carrick, at least in public, supported the sale of Rogers and his wish to take on the challenge at villa.

As I recall there were plenty of people slating Rogers as not good enough for where we want to be never mind where villa are and it wouldn't be uncommon for those posters to attempt to rewrite history.

Anyway roofie I agree. And a very good morning to you. Sunny as here.

He’ll have learnt a lot from this season. My only criticism would be that we struggled to break down lesser teams. I’m sure he’ll want to address that next season. With that in mind I would give him an 8. He’s a great fit with us and there is literally no other manager I would prefer. He’s destined for success and I hope that’s with us.

We as a club can't stand in players way when a opportunity presents its self, we have to do the best deal possible for the club and if we do prevent people from moving on it will create a bad atmosphere around the club and also make the manager think otherwise as if and when an opportunity comes it's way for the manager we will have to regrettably allow him the opportunity should he wish.

This season?
A 7.
The woeful start is what lowers it for me.

The December-February poor spell I'm fine blaming on injuries.

The end of the season has been great though and we've played some entertaining stuff.

His overall time here is absolutely an 8 though, and I can't wait to see him renew and I'm looking forward to next season already.

8/10
Started badly but got a kick start and improved. Looking forward to next season

8. Showing improvement and probably frustrated by the injuries. We could be more flexible in terms of formation and hopefully with a couple of quality additions and a fully fit squad we'll have far more options rather than having to make do with what we have.
I love that the current management team seem to be very successful at improving young players. I think that can only aid recruitment.

Good morning young man, and what a luvverly day so far. 18 debrees c. earlier.

Overall an 8, though this season has been a bit sketchy in places and is probably a 6.5, whereas last season was more like a 9.

I’m still frustrated by his substitutions, though of late they have been much better and more timely.
I think this is down to the lack of players available to him though. Obviously we've had a lot of injuries so often only had 11-14 senior players available with players like Silvera and Gilbert being the only senior options off the bench. With a couple of full backs.

I do think we are short in that LF and no10 role. The squad players don't exactly fill you with confidence that they will come on and improve it.

I think 7/10 because I think he got it terribly wrong at the start of this season and it taking so long to go to 5 at the back. He will of course learn from all that. I firmly believe, unless he has his squad ripped up, that next season could be a classic. I can see us banging in 100 goals on the way to the title.

Like a few others, I really don't think there are many other coaches who would have achieved more with the cards he was dealt. Overall 8.5. Like any person who has to make decisions in their job, he will get things wrong. But as Tom Cleverley said, Carrick is just class. Everything about him exudes class. A class player, a class person and a class manager/coach. I have no doubt that with the foundations the club are building (and if he is sensibly backed financially) that Carrick will get us promoted within 2 seasons.

He will also manage at the very highest level in his career.

Id give him an 8, only time i got peeved with him was his tactics at stamford bridge. Playing out at all costs. That game should have been much tougher for Chelsea.

If you're going to quote me roofie, use the quote function lad.

It was clumsily phrased, but the fact of the matter is he lost a Premier league level player halfway through the season and dealt with it with his usual class.

My post was about praising Carrick. If you want to try and have a pop because you think it was about me having a go at the club then at least flag it so I can have the chance to reply.

Something that doesn’t get mentioned a lot is, his coaching methods must be excellent, I mean Chuba was journeyman and Carrick instilled belief in him and asked him to play a certain way which improved him massively…the kids coming through now are looking great, players just seem to come on leaps and bounds after spending time at the club, MFC are going to benefit financially so much due to this.

I will go for an 8 out of 10. I have seen some of the best football by Boro for many seasons over the time he has been here. For his first job in management he is doing very well.
I would like him to try to make sure our best players want to stay and play for us and try to make them believe that we will make it to the premiership soon.
