Rate Carrick's overall performance out of 10

8/10
He's done better than I thought he would this season with the squad he has.
We play attractive football under him.

Marked down from a 9 because of some of his selections through February and also the start we made where he stuck with the new lads for too many games when it clearly wasn't working.

Overall he's been excellent for us

I won't rate him, but I will just say that I think he'll eventually manage at the highest level.
Nobody is perfect, but if we give him the players he will deliver.

I think the announcement of Carricks contract extension followed up by the signing of Ayling on a permanent deal leaves us going into pre season with a very good feel factor when you consider the form we finished in and the signing of Howson for another year and Latte Laths goalscoring exploits and Baldini being Baldini.

UTFB bring on next season.

Overall an 8, though this season has been a bit sketchy in places and is probably a 6.5, whereas last season was more like a 9.

I’m still frustrated by his substitutions, though of late they have been much better and more timely.

On top of handling the injuries and having a premier league level player sold from under him halfway through the season, I'd say the way he's dealt with setbacks has been very impressive.

We've had two terrible runs of results that even very experienced managers would struggle with. He's remained calm, positive and hasn't moaned once about recruitment, bad luck or thrown players under the bus.

we've seen enough managers over the years start to lose the plot under similar pressure.

wonder if he's a Rudyard Kipling fan?

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

(Never seen him eating a cherry Bakewell mind).

Actually got chills reading that 🤣. Carlsberg don't do football news ....

Feels like he has learnt some valuable lessons this season. He’s a very likeable chap and I think we are lucky to have him. With a few decent additions and better luck on the injury front, I think next season will be a truly special one for us, promotion while playing fantastic football.
I’ve never been more excited for a new season.

He gets a 9/10 for me. I rate him alongside John Neal, Bruce Rioch, and Brian Robson's early years. All built great teams, and MC is doing exactly that. Obviously not on the level of McClaren in terms of achievements, but miles ahead of him in terms of likability, and possibly potential whether that's with us or a bigger club he ends up at.

He's got us playing the best football I've seen us play for donkey's years. He comes across level headed, without ego, and respectful in interviews - which is important as he's representing our team/town. And for a "rookie" whose been in the job 18 months, he's brought us on leaps and bounds compared to where we were under every manager since Karanka's promotion-winning team.

I'm very optimistic about our future provided he's allowed to keep our best players this summer and given resources to strengthen.

My Dad want rid of him 🤷‍♂️🙈🤣

My dad also voted for Brexit and loved Boris. He’s not the brightest man unfortunately.

Michael Carrick is the best manager we’ve had in a long time.
Solid 8 from me for his 1st full season.

8/10. I thinks he's earned more credit for this season compered to last. The amount of injuries desimated us.

He's had to learn to tweak his style and play players out of position.

The flip side of that is that he's shown how good we can be now he has players back. I can't really say anything negative about him. I think he's openly said he's learned so much more about being a coach this season.

Looking forward to him penning a new deal. I genuinely can't think of anyone better for us👌

Sold 8.

I wouldn't want to even entertain the vaguest notion of anyone else For me his is the most important contract to tie down this summer.
This 100% can't wait to see a new deal to be announced.

He has adapted and learnt as a manger this season, more so than last, maybe if some of his squad changes etc had happened earlier we might of got over the line in the play offs but I am genuinely excited for next season and really feel he will get us over the line, the squad has been through so much but just gone on a 11 game unbeaten run in 12 in what is classed as the most crucial part of the season and but for individual mistakes we would of made the play offs.

The team and management should be immensely proud of there achievements and also a little disappointed that we never got over the line but will use that to spearhead our start to next season and not give anyone a head start!

For Best fit of a manager since Robbo. Buys into what the club are trying to do. Gives youth a chance. Plays excellent football and seems to accept we might have to sell to keep everything balanced financially. He and his staff are building something that could be very special. Hopefully in the close season we can demonstrate to him that this is somewhere where his ambitions in the short to medium term can be fulfilled and we can re establish ourselves in the prem and have good cup runs every season. That will take years as our drubbing at Chelsea showed where we are but with a fair wind it is not beyond the realms of possibility. A lot of clubs seem to build a team for the now. I hope this summer we are building a squad with quality and depth but with potential to develop further. I do also think we are a good fit for him as well with a recruitment team that have demonstrated their ability, with more hits than misses.

He has been through a couple of bad patches this season and come out of both stronger.

He’s top drawer, give him the players to supplement the academy graduates and he will deliver, I have no doubt about that.

As said above he seems to fit the Boro and its supporters, no fuss or panic but an underlying determination.

* Carrick didn't have "a Premier League level player sold from under him halfway through the season".
He stated quite clearly several times in public, in front of the camera's and on the radio, that Villa had made an offer for Rogers, who expressed a desire to move back to the West Midlands. Carrick accepted Rogers wanted the move, fully understood it was an excellent opportunity for him, and the club negotiated the best deal for the Boro.

As a side note: he didn't have Crooks sold from under him, either. Crooks was offered the chance to play in America and take his family. Crooks himself said it was an unmissable opportunity, and Carrick agreed.

I don’t know what the boards objectives were.

Minimum get in the play offs? Then the target wasn’t met. 6/10

If it was along the lines of, we need to have a consolidation year as money is tight…do what you can with this bunch, then we can have another go next year! then it’s been a perfect season. 8.5/10.
