My issue with question time and the TV (and print) media in this country SINCE the build up to the Brexit referendum is extreme right wing people are now routinely given a platform to speak and mislead people (as populists do) into believing that today’s issues are simple to resolve.
They are if you want a dictatorship style government.
For instance, Farage is a dangerous person alongside reform leader; Richard Tice.
I firmly believe they represent the fringe of society BUT if the people that do support them knew about some of their other ideas and policies they would be distancing themselves from them.

Example; when farage was challenged about doctors and nurses striking and leaving their profession to go to work in another country he said; we should stop them from leaving.

I mean, can you actually believe that ? That’s a dictator state.
People would zero rights to withdraw their labour and fight back against low pay.

These people are in the same league as Tommy Robinson but have become more articulate and narcissistic in presenting probably 1% of their ideas to the media and public which means they hoodwink a look of good minded people into believing their rhetoric for acceptable policy positions and solutions.

We live in dangerous times.

Other dangerous actual elected politicians to name but a few are;
Rees mogg
Cameron
Sunak
Patel
Truss
Jake berry
Nick fletcher
Jonathan gullis
Andrew Bridgen
Coffey

All hard right wing politicians portraying themselves as somehow ‘mainstream’

You can’t present a programme like QT ahd get away with bias.. I’ve used the phrase echo chamber further up the thread.

I think I live on a different planet to a load of people on here. Talk about the extreme right being toxic. The extreme left are equally as bad.

I know one thing - this country is in a right fkg mess.

No, I'm not. I've no idea who you vote for, nor am I asking. I'm just replying to your point that both ends of the political spectrum are as bad as each other. Seeing as we haven't had a socialist government in many decades but the current right wing administration have delivered a disaster, your point is unproven at best.

TBF Harry just cos we haven’t had an extreme Left wing government doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be just as bad if we did.

Sorry but, like AET, I’m a moderate. I’ve never voted Tory, but I don’t see Fiona Bruce as the tyrannical, biased plant many on here seem to view her as. I don’t mind that she sometimes lets Tories speak, as I like to hear what they’ve got to say even when I disagree. I feel she gets criticised on here a lot simply for not saying “**** off you moron” every time one of them talks.

If you are suggesting that a load of people on here are as bad as people on the far right that is ridiculous. Is being compassionate and empathetic to people such a bad thing?

I agree with you completely, I think she mostly sets up the Tories to be shot down and be made to look fools. Whenever she says 'can we have a show of hands', it is always to make the Tories look stupid and it always works.
 
Im genuinely unsure about Fiona Bruce and bias - Ive heard it a lot about her, mostly around her giving right wing politicians an easier ride than left wing ones. I cant say Ive actually seen any of it myself though. Most of the allegations seem to be based on her interrupting and talking over panellists - in which case every journalist on TV should be sacked.

I do however think she's a fairly poor host for that kind of show - comments about Stanley Johnson 'only' hitting his wife once (he broke her jaw), referring to 'that black guy in the middle' when directing the mic to an audience member, comments about the SNP being in a state, all really bad form and Im sure there are other examples out there.

QT itself is garbage these days - how many times have they invited someone from the Tax Payers Alliance on? That horrible american woman who keeps popping up and is now deeply embedded in Tufton Street. It used to be heavyweights from the two main parties and the Lib Dem/SNP leaders, now its fannies from the back benches

I'd agree with that 👍

There has been a list compiled of panellists on the programme over a number of years, and the heavy skew towards Tories, Tufton St loons, UKIP, Reform, RW journalists/broadcasters etc was ridiculous.

But when the BBC is controlled by Tories hardly surprising.
 
I dont watch the programme because it gave Farage a regular TV platform he didn't really deserve and the Head of audience selection was a member of UKIP.

I don't know if Bruce has shown any bias at all but I wonder if the fact that she is married to Nigel Sharrocks, who is a Conservative Party donor, affects the way she conducts her job?

No doubt these are hard Right wingers but there are plenty of hard Lefties on there too.
