Probably the biggest iconic legend in our history

I think it's a generation and an individual thing.
Different players mean different things to different people.
No denying John Hicktons place in our history.
But I wasn't part of the John Hickton moments so special to so many.
For me.
Your going to love this.
Get ready. Its a corker.
I hope your sat down.
Bernie Slaven. 😁
I know we have had far better players and far more successful teams.
But some of my happiest moments following the Boro have been when that guy put the ball in the net.
It was a time when my biggest worry was are the Boro going to win.
Before real life took over.
When I am feeling a bit low I go back to those goals he scored in my mind.
The memory is so vivid I am smiling just typing this.
Iconic legend for me, and probably just me, for my own reasons.

Nothing wrong with that & TBH his scoring record was second to none & he played & one of the vital members of the team in one of the best parts of our history that will live with us forever

You've given some cracking reasons why you think of Bernie as an iconic legend & rightly so

Its all about who was in the team at a time we are discovering adulthood and forming a bond with the Boro , For me the stars around this period were Eric Mc Mordie, Hughie McIlmoyle and John Hickton, Souness..... defenders didnt really get the status attacking midfielders and forwards got ( Boam, Maddren, Mowbray were heroes to me as well) so these players are inprinted in my mind as iconic Heroes as they were the stars when I was 17 - 22.... then real life kicked in and marriage, working harder and well the balance tipped towards family ..... My hero and iconic was Souness ... always will be a gem amongst a bit of rough when he came here
