He's 99 years old. As others have mentioned he's probably been asked to attend by his doctors. Which is a private matter anyways.

@BoroMart the rules and guidance surrounding hospital visits have altered slightly, I'm told that it's up to the ward of they allow visitors to relatives who are receiving end of life treatment and it's only close relatives like spouses or sons and daughters.

It should be for everyone, as long as it isn't putting care workers at risk. It is an assumption that he is on his last legs, he might be, but he might not.
 
There are some heartless people in this world and some on here. Not of all of us have a father to look up to. Charles has done the right thing and hope it works out ok.

Not being heartless mate, people have assumed he is dying if he isn't and he has been to see him, then it's shocking. If he is, then fair enough now that the rules have changed. I guess though when the royals persistently do as they please, block laws for their own financial benefit, crash into cars when unfit to drive, perform statutory rape and go unpunished, then you do start to question every single thing they do with a sceptical mind

He's 99 years old and has been hospitalised for 5 days now, and is likely to be hospitalised for a while longer even if he does survive.

It's well within the rules to visit if a patient is near death, and at that age you cannot be certain.

Just bitter people looking for an excuse to be outraged.

Can you really blame people being sceptical about everything the royals do, I mean they have abused their position for decades so obviously they will be questioned.

He was described as emotional, which given that he was wearing a mask I interpret as “tearful”, looks a bit red eye for Inn the photos.

I do have a feeling about this and not a good one.

I am sure that as a law abiding citizen Ms Holden is truly devastated.

A remarkable coincidence that this family health issue at her parents’ house in Bude arose on the weekend of her 50th birthday celebrations.

Remarkable too that this family health issue improved to enable her to travel back to London from Bude after only one night. If it was serious I would have thought it would have needed her to stay longer. But I guess that’s the effect of Amanda’s calming influence.

Next time there’s is a serious health issue n your family, folks, don’t call for an ambulance or a doctor, call for Amanda, her presence will cure you within 24 hours.

Really, I think everybody should be able to visit their parents in these circumstances And should have been from day one, also I believe that funerals should never have been as restrictive as they were.

He visited his elderly Dad in the hospital for half an hour, get over yourself.

Do you really think that he'd visit and invite the pathetic faux outrage from people if his father wasn't actually in bad health, all for the sake of half an hour?

If Prince Philip does survive, as he hopefully does, he won't be the first person to visit a family member that didn't actually die.
If he does survive, you'll still look like a **** for trying to act like he's done something wrong.
