Players youve met and where was it?

Gave Jamie Pollock and his dad who is a mate of mine a lift to Sunderland away in 1985 for a night game that we lost 1-0.
Did jobs at Billy Horners house in Hartlepool who was a lovely guy, also Dean Gordons' at Eaglescliffe who also very friendly
and Ian Harte who wasn't happy with his electricity meter.
Played football with Don Heath ex Swindon Town and Alec Smith both mates of Keith Lamb who ran the team I played for.

Sat next to Tommy Docherty at a PFA dinner. Sourness Hoddle Bobby Charlton Nobby Stiles and lots more were there.
Souness got inducted into the FA Hall of Fame and his acceptance speech was very humbling.
Being with Docherty was like dining with royalty. Nearly all of the other football celebs made a point of shaking his hand i got the impression that he was very well liked and respected.

I've met,

Steve Vickers, he took a football coaching session when I was in year 6 at school.

Emerson and Juninho at the old Kansas Bar that used to be next to the showcase cinema.

Bernie Slaven at work.

Wayne Rooney when he visited Great Ayton with his family a couple of years ago, said hello.

Oh and I know it's not a player but had a cup of tea with Ali Brownlee years and years ago when I was doing door to door sales. A really nice chap.

Old club shop at Ayresome Park during 1987/88 season - sunny day, pretty dusty inside as I went through the door. Looked up, Bernie Slaven, Tony Mowbray and Cooper are there just hanging about

I said to the lady - "Can I have a Boro Mug please?"

Slaven who was already standing moves towards Mowbray sitting on a counter and pretends to pick him up saying "Here ya go, son..."

How we all laughed :D True story...

Tony Morley gave me a lift in his Ford Capri when I was hitchhiking in the late 70s. Morley was playing for Burnley at the time but went on to find fame with Aston Villa and England. Lovely fella, down to earth, and kind enough to stop for a scruffy student. I followed his subsequent career with interest. With Villa he won the European Championship and First Division. He also produced a MOTD goal of the season.

There was an MSS do after we played Arsenal in a tea-time game at Ashburton Grove in the noughties. Gareth Southgate was manager at the time and he came along to meet supporters. A photograph was taken of me, my mate, Gareth and moxzin who was a regular fmttm poster at the time but who hasn't (I think) posted on here for ages. The photograph appeared on the MFC website but, fortunately, it was cropped and I was excluded.

Met Ali when he was manager of Barclays in Redcar - he was dressed as Santa (it was xmas, obviously).

Full of life and very warm, one of life's genuinely good people.

Bernie at McMillans - a friend from Scotland used to play football with him and introduced me to him, must have been 88. Gordon McQueen with Ally McCoist in some pub in Bridge of Weir around 92. Emlyn Hughes at a university ball i'd organised 95 in Hull - what a c...

sat next to ex-newcy full back , dyed blonde hair, small lad.... John Beresford on a bus from some spanish airport to the city, some package holiday and he was with his parents and wife.... dont know how he ended up next to me and not his wife ... chatted about his time at Barnsley and told me a few stories about the Boro when he played them ... had a really good chat...

Met Baxter Woof and Hedley in Cleveland Centre pre 1981/82, Maddren post match 75/76, Kernaghan at MSS do 88/89 , Wyke at work a couple of years back

I met Eusebio in San Jose in 1994 [US WC], me and my mate shook his hand and had a good chin wag with him-- I've met others [Robbo, Paul Mariner and, Hugo Sanchez, Peter Storey, Preki,] but to meet the Portuguese maestro was perhaps the best.

Early August of 2018, I woke up to the news that Adama Traore was likely to be joining Wolves as they had triggered his minimum fee release clause. My eldest son who was 6 at the time was absolutely gutted when I told him as he was his favourite player. To cheer him up I said we would go to Rockliffe that morning and watch the lads train and see if we could get some photos/autographs.

When we got there sadly we were informed by a security guard that no spectators were allowed on this particular morning. Disappointed, we were walking back to the car and we see Tony Pulis walking along chatting to a reporter. He stopped for photos and was great with my 2 boys and said if we hang around we might catch some of the players leaving.

We waited around for an hour or so but only saw Grant Leadbitter (seemed a great lad). Just as we were about to head home we see Adama Traore chatting on the phone in the doorway of the main entrance. My eldest had his away shirt on with 37 Adama on the back. Adama spots us and after a few mins walked over. I got some photos of him with my boys and he asked my eldest if he was sad that he was leaving. He nods his head holding back tears. Adama gives him a hug and says to me wait there I will go and get some shirts for your boys. We waited 5 mins and he walks back out with 2 brand new home shirts with the message 'GOD GIVES HIS WORST BATTLES TO HIS BEST WARRIORS' with printed letters on the front and his name and number on the back which he had signed and written thank you. I was gobsmacked and my 2 kids were over the moon. I shook his hand, wished him all the best at Wolves and told him that he's been a joy to watch and I was sure he would end up becoming a real star.

He was an absolute gem of a lad and I will always follow his career and hope he achieves great success.

Lovely story 👍🏻

Ian Rush in and outside of London West End venues, 1980something. Very shy, he only said a few syllables in 15 minutes. Happy to sign autographs for me and for passing cabbies.

John Barnes, Shaiba logs base.

Doing a CSE show, sat and watched a game on Sky sports and tried my best to sound very knowledgeable about football.

Think I failed miserably.

I remember seeing Mark schwarzer at the play off final then again at the tube station afterwards
