Players youve met and where was it?

Many over the years but my favourite encounter was with Graeme Souness shortly after his transfer to Liverpool. So Graeme, I asked with just a slight ironic lilt in my voice Are you missing Middlesbrough? Aye came the reply, like a hole in the head.

Bumped into the legend Gareth Southgate and his family in the polar bear enclosure at florida...lovely friendly took a snap with him and I...he was announced as boro manner 1 week later....
It was bizarre as there was only him and his family plus me In the whole place ...surreal.....
Nice bloke though

Met loads of them usually in Yarm especially mid 90s Robbo era . Most memorable one though was Willie Maddren at his sports shop at Teesside Park as he attended to my shoe fitting .
There was I sat down and he dutifully stood over and I was speechless and overwhelmed . What a lovely humble fella as well as a top class Boro legend .

nb . The biggest pr)ck I ever met was Keith O’Neill in the Black Bull in Yarm , he truly thought he was Gods gift to women . I’d gone to the loo and came back and he was attempting to chat my wife up , on my return instead of shuffling away he carried on smugly chatting to her whilst I was stood there never acknowledging me . He very nearly got lamped .

Got talking to Jim Platt one New Years Eve in The Westminster on Parly Rd 1972?
Spent 10 minutes chatting to Nigel Pearson after he had been in my wife’s school speaking to the kids. Top bloke.
Met him again walking out of Dickens with an artificial Xmas tree the same year.
Kevin Phillips and his family waiting in queue for a ride at Lightwater Valley. A really nice lad actually * cough*
Ali Brownlee at my school as the guest of honour at prize giving evening. Spent ages having his photo took with loads of pupils and he was as lovely with the first child as he was with the last. He came into my office for a cuppa afterwards. Warm, personable and very inspiring.

Is the use of the "Teesside nod" allowed?

If so then Stewy Downing in some pub over the border......my drunken " Now then Stewy (accompanied by said Teesside nod) " was replied with " Alright (accompanied by his very own Teesside nod)" on the way to the bar.

He never bought me a beer and I never bought him one
