Players youve met and where was it?

Gordon Cowans bought me a pint in The Blackwell Grange, chatted football with him all night c2001. Great down to earth fella, he was managing the Villa youth team who were playing Boro at Rockcliffe on Saturday morning.

Aitor Karanka at jury’s inn for our works Christmas party just after he joined us… Higgy was there too along with the rest of the back room staff

Southgate when he was manager… walked in behind me at the services near the M1/A43

Steve Mc in Muse at Yarm

Beck at the ice rink at the forum… he was a regular

Gordon McQueen at a family wedding… he was familiar with the grooms family

Kei Kamara on a flight out of Teesside with KLM just after we binned him off

Seen Bernie a few times in Great broughton sports club

Bobby Kerr every Wednesday when he was running Oscar's in Hartlepool. Lovely chap.
Mick Docherty when he was running Docs Orders in Darlington. Smashing bloke.
Bernie loads of times walking his red setters down Acklam rd.
Billy Ashcroft and Tony McAndrew in the Master Cooper.
Tony McAndrew when he was a rep for Scottish and Newcastle.
Steve Claridge in Fareham shopping mall...a right scruffy get.
Vince Hilaire in The Albany in Portsmouth...very chatty and approachable.
Steve McManaman in the club shop at Anfield.
Gary Gill at school.
John Barnes in Gibraltar... groaned when I reminded him that he played for the Jawdees.

Did you ask him about the night he broke Trevor Putneys leg?

Met a few, probably the biggest name Bobby Charlton - a true gent
Agreed - I was on the trip to FIFA for the English presentation for the 2006 World Cup. On the flight back he found that one lady and her daughter had to get back to Manchester and offered them a lift.

My first (and Last) footie autographs were Frank Spraggon and Arthur Horsefield in Billingham Bowl. 1965?

Let's go for 1 player per post if you are a seasoned autograph hunter!

My all time favorite was being in mcdonalds in boro Town centre with my sister and the little fella sits on the table opposite, he signed a couple of napkins for me, I was 12 at the time and it was one of the most surreal experiences of my life.
David Mills. Deli counter in Woolco.

John Charles, when I worked in South Wales in the 70s
Wilf Mannion Also, he was our Cabin Man for Capper Pipes on Wilton ICI.
Both absolute Gentlemen.

A few used to be members of David Lloyd Teesside when Smac was in charge. I was once playing on a tennis court Juninho had booked, him and Carlos Marinelli were having a game. He kindly offered to go on the next court that was free. They were both rubbish.

Maccarone, Doriva and Tony McMahon were always there.

Gary Pallister used to pretty much live in the hot tub there. And likewise Graham Kavanagh in the sauna.

Also been in a sauna with Stephen Hunt in David Lloyd Leeds. Which does begin to sound a bit like I stalk footballers in saunas, but I don't honest.

Was in a taxi going through Hyde Park and spotted the team training before the 97 League Cup Final.Stopped the taxi and got pictures with TLF and Emerson with my son.Wilf Mannion was also staying in the same hotel as us.
So my son and I met Boro's two greatest players on the same day.

Emmo in the bogs at Tall Trees
Alves in departure lounge and on a KLM flight from Teesside to Schipol
Nemeth on an Easyjet flight from Newcastle to Budapest

Juninho and his entire family at Heathrow departure lounge for the good old British Midland Diamond Service flight to Teesside. They were travelling back from the US after he'd been playing for Brazil in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and (judging by the amount of Disney merchandise) had taken an extended holiday in the US.
I recognised his father first. I didn't recognise Juninho, he just looked like a teenage boy.

edit:
Oh, and Peter Lorimer, regularly, in the sports shop he owned in Bishop Auckland
