Phil Foden

Henderson Phillips and rice will all be in Germany and I’d put money on at least two of them starting.

I agree though foden Bellingham Kane first three on the sheet for me.
 
Southgate will never pick those 3 first choice .....but he will regret it after the summer or get lucky when it goes wrong & they bail him out

Philips (if he moves) and Rice without a doubt.

Bellingham, Foden and Sake all behind Kane. Only issue is if Foden is not central, he is best from the right. Saka is also brilliant there though.

Southgate has gone with two holding midfielders at previous tournaments.

I'd say there is every chance he will go with that front 4, Kane up front, Saka and Foden either side of him, and Bellingham as the 10.

What I'd really love to see would be Rice and Stones playing as the two sitters, but I'd imagine he'll want Stones in defence, as our CB options aren't great.
 
brilliant player but he has to keep his form, he can go through periods of not really imposing himself on games. He also has massive competition from Saka on the left, and Bellingham at 10.

Agreed, and I think Rice and Philips IF Philips gets out on loan and plays, is a really strong platform to shield the defence and start attacks. I'd love Stones in there instead, but CB is a really weak are, so is LB to be honest.

I feel we have the players to set up 3241 like City.

Walker, Maguire, Shaw as the 3 CBs.

Stones and Rice as sitters.

Saka, Foden, Bellingham and Sterling as the four behind Kane.

I doubt Southgate would be willing to try out a completely new formation though at this stage.

I don't think sterling will be back in either. Spat his dummy out at being rightly dropped. Team spirit is essential.

That’s strange, as he started with Bellingham, Foden and Kane for the last two games England played in a major tournament against Senegal and France. He also picked all three of them when we beat Italy 3-1, becoming the first team to do the double over them in qualification in decades.
But hey don’t let something as daft as facts get in the way.
