Pears

They had attacking options to come on, we didn’t really have any. Coulson and Spence can definitely take people on but of course Spence looks to have been binned for the season, other than those two who have we got that carry the ball forward effectively. Our second was all about Coulsons pace assisted by a good throw by Pears

I’m quite happy with the progress pears has made this season , hopefully Hel keep learning quickly . Hel probably start next season on the bench where Hel probably stay for atleast 2 seasons assuming the new lad does a job .

At fault for the second. He wasn't quick enough to react and shouldn't have let the ball drop.

Boro are now back to the dark days under Mowbray. Consistently letting in late goals that are costing big time.

I actually thought the mistake he made for the 2nd was coming off his line and going for the ball.

If you watch it back, McNair leaves it and doesn't even bother trying to challenge Grabban, because Pears actually ends up pushing Grabban away from him and puts himself in a vulnerable position.

If Pears had have stayed on his line, McNair would have been able to challenge Grabban in the air and would probably have dealt with it.

I thought the first was understandable, came through a crowd and he'd have seen it late. Even then he nearly had it. Second was a no-win, if he'd been stronger it was a pen and there was no way a seasoned, bullying forward like Grabban wasn't going to win the physical battle any other way.

I think the 1st one the player had to much time to line up his shot, pick his corner, at the other end from me
Pears has done so well for us this season, agree if he'd have lent on Grabbon he would have gone down like a sack of spuds

As good as Randolph was for the Boro im sure he's been guilty of some howlers at the Boro

Your being extremely generous to him on both fronts. The first goal was a really poor goal to concede and the second he wasn’t strong enough.

Young solid keeper still learning with great potential. He should have done better for both goals though - and it is starting to cost us points. A more experienced imposing physically stronger bigger keeper would have just cleared that second goal ( where is our million pond keeper?). The time is right to take him out of the team. Also McNair was pathetic - in my opinion he is one of the most over rated players in our squad.

I thought Pears could have done better for both goals. Equally our defenders could have done better too. No blockers on the first goal - far too much time to shoot and everyone froze and stopped on the second instead of getting back on the line. You have train yourself to react & respond not just stop & stare.

I don't blame him for either, having watched them back.

The first one maybe he could have saved, rather than should have, but that's with a little bit of hindsight as you know where the ball ended up and how near he got to it. At the time though there will be a fraction of hesitation before moving because you don't know where it is going and it's coming through someone's legs.

Second goal was clever from Grabban and the whole defence should have reacted as quick as the forward.

If that had been Mark Viduka 15 years ago I think we'd be drooling over his nous rather than laughing at useless goalkeeping.
