Payero starts - in his favoured position

All I’ve wanted since we signed is to see him in his natural position.

today we did

And look what happened

He had a great second half but the game did pass him by for a lot of the game. He needs the confidence to impose himself a bit more. I don't think he played much differently to how he had in the majority of his games up until about 60 minutes into the game.

Hopefully he'll take confidence from tonight and go on to perform like that from the start of a game.

I’d agree he was quiet in first half but dreadful for 85 mins really.

come on
When did Coburn come on? He started to come out of his shell around then. Before that he looked completely lost, he looked like a rank amateur. Nice little moves further up the pitch.

Mot sure what it was? Did the occasion get the better of him? Genuine schoolboy errors, really frustrating. Credit to Warnock for sticking with him and for making the call to pull off Sporar for Coburn.

He was a bit hit and miss, but there were signs there of the player he could be. Thought he looked a lot fitter too and his defensive work was much better - probably because he had the fitness to track back.

I think the improvement occurred about the time Tav moved into the centre, prior to that he was like a lost sheep. You could see how much Payero's assist meant to him, hopefully that's a monkey off his back

He was slightly better. That’s about it. He was ok in the second half, anonymous in the first. Not sure there was anything more than that.

I agree he was quiet first half, but second half he was quality, the turn in his own half beat two players and then the ball he played to either Tav or Jones (can’t remember which) was superb.

the way he celebrated his assist too, showed how much it means to him.

He will only get better and better.

I didn't see his game that way. He wasn't great in the first half but he really picked up in the second half and seemed much more comfortable on the ball.

Oh yeah, I really felt for the kid. His reaction after the goal showed how much it meant to him. After the final whistle he dropped to his knees and looked like he was in tears. Looked like he was genuinely having a moment.

Brazil vs Argentina World Cup Final? Nah mate, Boro vs Peterborough.. totes emosh!

He looked like he was playing a bit further forward in the 2nd half. Still poor.. but not the car crash of the first half. Mad how different folks see the game/players differently. The guy who sits behind me was kicking off about Tavernier!! Saying he was crap?!?!

One thing I would add is that he needs confidence, minutes and encouragement which makes Warnock’s post match comments all the more bizarre.
