Patrick McNair

Sorry Col, the lack of professionalism in McNair’s performance today needs calling out. It was rank. I watched it, by no means did other players cover themselves in glory but he was absolutely passive in key moments and his body language is horrendous to boot.

He’s not a youngen, seasoned pro who’s been coached by the opposing manager, he should know better.
No need to say sorry, its your opinion and its fair enough. He was poor, Fry should have been playing instead. I don’t see many fans directly having a pop at Carrick though, it was HIS fault he played, and given McNair had been away albeit with Northern Ireland, he had Fry at home and fresh and had been working with him. Carrick should have known Warnocks likely tactics and played Fry accordingly.

However, we absolutely lost because we were switched off, playing walking football first half, suckered in by Warnocks tactics, we came out as a team expecting them to continue as they left off, we were asleep as a team from the moment the 2nd half started. We failed to tackle Ruffels despite 4 Boro players around him and yes McNairs poor tackle played him in nicely. Someone should have fouled him long before though. Smith just backed off for the 2nd, the next two were rank defending and ball watching from everyone. McNair played his part, but others were culpable just as much imho, the whole defence were unprofessional, the midfield too. Hackney was getting away with murder first half, nearly every foul was him first half. Too many players were way off the required pace and we fell right into Warnocks trap.

Gonna go out on a limb and say worst performance at centre half for boro since Sean St Ledger. Absolute embarrassment.

Dropping McGree as well. Joke.
McGree was also ill while he was away on international duty, so fully understand why he didn’t start.

We were in total control of the game first half but a terrible second half performance from the team (not just McNair) was the reason we lost.

I agree other than giving Warnock toooo much credit 👍

The sad thing is, it was entirely foreseeable and typical NW, we continually fail to understand how good he is at spoiling a teams attributes and nicking results. My phone will be switched off tomorrow. I’ll guarantee he will have a quick look on here at some point tomorrow and chortle 😔

I’ve no doubt and I can’t take it away from him, especially after how he was treated to bring that charlatan in.

He’ll have known himself they always had a chance today if he played his cards right. He did.

It’s inconsequential but I like seeing any Warnock team win as long as it isn’t against us, I get a modicum of joy from seeing Wilder lose. Probably tells a story.

There was some poor defending from quite a few players and goal keeping in the second half, aswell as a poor refereeing decision and some flukie deflections. Overall we were not resolute enough in those 20 disasterous minutes.

I said I was surprised the play McNair ahead of Fry as Fry had rested for 2 weeks. Fry has played in some poor away performances such as Barnsley and Preston last year.

I would not drop McGree under normal circustances neither as he does defend.

I don't think having 10 players away on internatiomal duties helped us today.

I said to my brother after 10 minutes that McNair needs to sort his head out, he wasn’t even committing to headers properly he was just letting the ball hit his head.

It’s tough because Fry isn’t good enough to play out from the back and McNair is poor defensively. We definitely need a new centre back in the summer.

We have Clarke when fit as back up. The idea that Fry cant play out from the back is ludicrous.

It’s not really when 2 managers in a row have dropped him and it clearly isn’t for his lack of defensive ability. He’s solid at this level defensively.

Steffen throws the ball to McNair to take the goal kick , Paddy starts to run the ball out of the box, totally sums him up , lacks concentration and goes awol.
