Patrick McNair

Gonna go out on a limb and say worst performance at centre half for boro since Sean St Ledger. Absolute embarrassment.

Dropping McGree as well. Joke.

I said to my brother after 10 minutes that McNair needs to sort his head out, he wasn’t even committing to headers properly he was just letting the ball hit his head.

It’s tough because Fry isn’t good enough to play out from the back and McNair is poor defensively. We definitely need a new centre back in the summer.

Without re-watching the goals (once plus replays was enough) I reckon Paddy missed tackles in the build up to at least two of their goals and three came through the right side?

I don't know why he preferred him to Dael, I think it was a mistake.

Ffs it really doesn't matter he cant play out from the back we wouldn't concede 4.

Thought Ramsey was our best player today.
Because he played his own game. He’ll always catch the eye because that’s the nature of his game.

Did some really good stuff but overall detrimental compared to Riley. By no means one of the worst though, he didn’t play badly and he’s a young lad.

Oh dear, lets not look for scapegoats 🤦🏻

Paddy McNair did not force Carrick to pick him at gunpoint. I was disappointed Fry didn’t start, but we did not lose because of McNair, we lost because we failed to tackle in key defensive moments, Lenihan, one of my favourites didn’t always cover himself in glory either, nor Smith, Howson, Hackney etc. Our best player was the guy that came in for Mcgree btw.

Have a few beers folks and try to put todays TEAM performance where it belongs, in the dustbin of history.

That is correct but you might also lose 2-0 like at Sunderland because we can’t get out and he becomes a liability. Same thing at Burnley.

Either way you lose something, neither are the answer you just have to decide whether you want to sacrifice the way we play to be better defensively or we play the way Carrick wants but you know there’s the risk like today.

Definitely targeted he will have told his strikers hes doesnt like it up him
All that “best player I’ve coached” stuff was to get the best out of him. The club would’ve accepted a good offer if Stoke had matched the asking price.

Warnock must’ve been laughing when he saw him starting in a 2 today.

Sorry Col, the lack of professionalism in McNair’s performance today needs calling out. It was rank. I watched it, by no means did other players cover themselves in glory but he was absolutely passive in key moments and his body language is horrendous to boot.

He’s not a youngen, seasoned pro who’s been coached by the opposing manager, he should know better.
