Patrick Bamford on Tony Pulis

I actually think Monk failed Bamford more than Pulis. It was a ridiculous decision to go out and spend £31m on Britt, Braithwaite and Fletcher, when we already had Bamford at the club.

Bamford should have been our no 9 the first season following relegation, and then we could still have had Gestede, and one of either Stuani or Rhodes, to add competition.
Didn't Rhodes leave the January of our relegation season?

The man basically swapped Bamford (our best striker by a mile and an ex championship player of the season) for saville over that summer window, tells you all you need to know.

Bamford and Rhodes would have done for me. For the club to finish up relying on Gestede and Assombalonga was a recipe for disaster.

I think he went out on loan until the end of the season, and then signed on a permanent deal. It might have been part of the deal that he'd sign on a permanent deal to be fair, so can't blame Monk for that.

I still think it was unnecessary to sign 3 strikers when we already had Bamford and Gestede, and we should have tried to keep hold of Stuani.

We should have signed Jota from Brentford as well. He'd have been the perfect replacement for Ramirez.

I think we planned to play them together didn't we?

Monks' plan seemed to be to play Bamford, Britt and Braithwaite together..........a 4-3-3 with 3 strikers formation.

In fairness, he tried it in the pre-season game vs Ausburg and you could see the potential. Some of the interplay between them was brilliant to watch.

Braithwaite picked up an injury early doors, so he replaced him with Gestede, and we actually made a decent start to the season, but then he decided to scrap it altogether after a defeat at Forest. He pretty much made it up as he went along from there.

Still think he gave up on the 3 striker formation too soon. I think it would have been interesting when Braithwaite came back from injury.

Bamford was at the age that we should have seen him as a legacy player he was clearly settled and we all knew he would get better.

crazy

He talks about it here from 2 minutes onwards....

I'm not sure what to make of it now.

Does seem likely now that Bamford didn't force the move, but neither did Pulis. Seems like the club basically accepted a bid from Leeds and Bamford was encouraged by the club to sign for them.

I always thought this was the case. Never believed Bamford actively wanted to leave and never believed Pulis forced him out. Looks like the club accepted a bid and Bamford spoke to Leeds and liked what they were proposing.

I remember Pulis blaming Bamfords' agent. Makes me wonder if his agent spoke to Leeds, they told the agent what they were willing to offer and then the agent has encouraged Bamford to move.

What I do find strange though is Pulis saying the club didn't force Bamford out. Even if Bamfords' agent was encouraging Bamford to move, the club could have still rejected the bid, especially if Bamford wasn't trying to force the move.

Does make me wonder if Pulis was prepared to basically be the fall guy for the club at the time, to protect Gibson.

The Club accepted the bid, so Bamford accepted the decision.
pulis got over £80k per week at Boro. Hardly in keeping with saving money.
**** manager, **** football, but master of pulling the wool over the eyes of the gullible.
Still out of work and still a scumbag

Every interview Bamford's given since being at Leeds has basically said that he was interested as soon as he knew it was Leeds.

Now, he'd probably say that whether it was the case or not, it's basically expected for players to blow smoke up a club's **** when they're there, but I think it's fair to say that Leeds are a bigger club than us, even with their long exile.

I'm sure he wasn't agitating for a move, but that doesn't mean he was against it either.
It's looking almost certain that he's made the right decision too, even if he's not ripped up trees whilst he's been there and has been embroiled in multiple cheating incidents.

Not a Pulis fan then?

Bamfords a cheating scumbag aswell.

Garry Monk is undoubtedly the worst manager in the history of the club. Undid all of the good work of mowbray and Karanka, spunked it all on overpriced dross, many of the deals looked crooked as ****. He is an absolute ****.

Corrupt transfer allegations made against him by his 3 most recent clubs, so you'd expect there's something to it.
I wonder what happened with that, it looked to be coming to a boil a year ago and then went quiet.

Yeah, I think although the club were probably happy to sell, Bamford was probably also happy to move.

Bamford and Rhodes together up front (y)

I don't think there would be any chance of us getting our 50 million back, and any court proceedings may well have made us look hopelessly naive in signing the deals off, so I imagine they just leaked it to the press and then were done with it.
Shows how any old dross can get a job in football management, that he's still in work. Staggering that there isn't a more professional attitude towards the recruitment of managers, with all the money at stake. It's all about media reputation. Something McLaren and Pulis were savvy enough to realise.

The one thing we’ll all know is that gibbo doesn’t do sackings ( very few have been sacked at the Boro it’s normally mutual agreed etc) but right from the off gibbo made it known loud and clear he’d been sacked.

that said it all.
