Paddy McNair

Yeah sounds about right, tranfermarkt reckon he's worth €4.5, would take that like. I rated him if I'm honest, he did become one of the first name's on the team sheet, and you couldn't argue with it at the time. Like I say, I just don't know what's happened to him.

One of those players in transition with the new Head Coach and other players coming through.
Carrick wants the whole squad to play "a large part" in the rest of this season.
He also mentioned how he wants to give players who havent had many minutes so far - more time on the pitch.
As Carrick explained yesterday - with a winning team it creates a "nice problem to have".

Exactly. Carrick has been here 5 mins and it's been largely a winning team he's had playing for him.

Bit early to say who is and isn't in the managers longer term plans at the minute. It's not necessarily
in the team = good
out the team = bad and the manager wants rid.

McNair is currently out more because of the form of others rather than anything he's done wrong under Carrick so far. That's football.

Some of our fans make me laugh. We moan about a lack of depth in the squad or a weak bench. However the minute someone loses their place in the team for a few matches it's "probably should sell, manager clearly doesn't rate him".

I expect him to go, he will want first team football and I doubt the club or Carrick will stand in his way, Should fetch a few quid and will free up a sizeable wage.

I could see him going back to Sunderland.
No way Sunderland will match his package, never mind improve it.

I think Paddy is a player who has to be a top performer to justify his salary, which is an unfair measure, but the reality of the business.

If we could get a decent fee and him off the wage bill I suspect we would, given he's not playing any part at the moment.

Well it looks like we are sticking with 4 at the back.
Centre halves Lenihan, Clarke and Fry provide us with decent cover back there.
Clarke has been hit and miss, but has been injured and a success everywhere else he has played.

We are short in midfield but we don't seem to perform when McNair steps up

I'd love us to find a regular role for Djksteele - we need to exploit his athleticism.
Paddy has played full back a couple of times but i'd much prefer Anfernee over him at right back.
Not sure Djksteele could play centre-half unless it's a three.

I could see Paddy moving on in January.

I can't see Paddy leaving I'm January, think he's far to versatile of a player to let go of mid season. All it takes is a few terrible performances and he could find himself back in the team in one of his many positions.
I've always liked Paddy but I do think this time next year he'll be gone, I wouldn't begrudge him a move for first team football as he has been excellent 80% of his time here.
Contract up 2024, unless something changes and quick next summer is our last chance to get some money back

Been dreadful this season so rightfully out of the team. He will need to find a position in this team. Not good enough to be a CB in a back four. Not as good as Hackney or Howson in midfield two so looks like it will be quite a spell on the bench unless injuries and lack of form fall on those two.

Don't think we have the luxury to carry players - especially expensive ones.
How long until Clarke is back?

Curious if he'll be sold in January, doesn't seem to be in Carrick's plans by the look of it.
Not sure what's happened to him, looked a fairly decent player at one point.
Warnock didn’t want him as a midfielder, Wilder didn’t want him as a left sided defender and I don’t think Carrick wants an ex teammate in the squad.. pure guess this btw

could other players see it as favouritism?

Besides I get the impression he wants to play in midfield.

Absolutely zero chance of us getting a decent fee for someone who can't get a game for us
