It’s an absolute classic. Surprisingly good story too.Hadn't heard of that one,but I have a gooner mate living in abroad who i will pass that onto.
I know it is not a film but Jeremy Clarkson, a man I’m not keen on, narrates a documentary on the raid on the docks at St Nazaire. Apparently his father in law took part in the raid. Well worth a watch.Just gone onto Y/T very recently , The Gift Horse (search for the US title 'Glory At Sea').
Rarely seen, it's based on the story of HMS Campbeltown and the St Naziere raid.
Richard Attenborough, Bernard Lee, Trevor Howard.
Oh yes, got me Sims & Mills mixed up, thanks.Sylvia Sims in Ice Cold In Alex not Hayley Mills.Would have been strange John Mills kissing his daughter!

I have visited the docks and what they achieved is unbelievable.
Edit: His father in law was at Arnhem and awarded the VC.
That’s a good shout An uplifting film too. Not just for females.

This is brilliant film from post war London. A classic boys adventure crime caper.
The longest day is the most expensive black & white film madeI’ve always enjoyed ‘A bridge too far’ and ‘The longest day’
the line in A Bridge Too Far cracks me up when the Germans come to discuss the Allied surrender.
